People at war protect them by not putting them in harm's way and by removing the possibility of their permanent removal.
There has been a clearly defined Russian media broadcaster in the UK called RT for years.
It has been taken off the air.
Why? Because it was a tool of the Russians to broadcast Russian propaganda and their attempt to erode the west's unity.

Both sides here are just totally ignoring the rather convoluted history of this area. In the 19th century the Ottomans still conducted slave raids on this whole area and claimed dominion going back to the Golden Horde. Then the area declared its independence during the 1920s and consequently became one of Stalin's first and cruelest experiments in mass deportations in the 1930's including the constructed famine of the Holodomor in 1932-33. Partially as a result of these atrocities the Partisan struggle in this area was a three sided conflict and continued well into the 50's in some parts

The OP was still incorrect as he didn't outlaw all opposition. Whether this will continue or not, no one knows since the country is in the midst of a war, the biggest in Europe since WWII. Maybe Ukraine will cease to exist in the very near future, based on everything one can read and see he will try all he can to prevent that from happening.
