I doubt she'd get pleasure from seing someone being hanged.

Same as she would not get pleasure in watching someone being electrocuted sitting on a chair in the USA or having drugs injected into an arm in the USA to kill someone. It's all very barbaric to me. No different from burning at stake and chopping heads off.

But I notice many here who would have no problem watching or doing something like this but Margot is not one of them from what I have ever seen.

not heard of of the massacres of Jews by catholics on the way to the crusades?

and all the other massacres of Jews ....

what about the sack of constantinople (why would the people of constantinople say "better to be under the turban than the papal tiara?")

of the massacre of the people of Jerusalem? (this WAS on religious grounds - its a little harder to argue that Tamurlane's massacre of the people of Isfahan was on religious grounds)

not heard of the spanish inquisiton?

what about the bloodletting during the reformation?

what about inquisatorial practices right up until the 19th century?

what about support for Franco and Mussolini?

and the list goes on .....

    not a very good substitute.

If I based my understanding of americans on the news I would think that the majority were ignorant, violent, extremist religious nuts ...

    with very few exceptions.

at least you could get your saints straight.

St Francis of Assissi (which is whom I think you are actually referring to) made vagrancy and begging a holy pursuit - although even someone as saintly as he had no problem supporting the crusades, and approved of the murder of Muslims.

As did the Nazis, "None shall starve nor freeze".

Taken as a whole, the WHW program was a brilliant propaganda coup for Hitler and the Nazis. Not only did it serve to break down all the class barriers of society, it also helped solidify Hitler's bond to the people. Indeed most of the early slogans called for citizens to join Hitler in the struggle to protect the Mutter und Kind, the family, and to help him provide freedom and bread to every German house. The collection drives of 1933 to 1945 issued a large number of themed ceramic medallions and other badges given to donators

I think you are talking about the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre when some of my ancestors were slaughtered. That didn't have anything to do with the crusades centuries before when there weren't any protestants.

From your OP you obviously approve of terrorist groups use of charity as a propaganda tool, I was merely coming with other examples showing it was nothing new. I don't see any relevance here of your question which only looks like a diversion from the Nazi analogy you are perhaps uncomfortable with.

The vast majority of law abiding Muslims.. ordinary Muslims.... NEVER make the news.

Your perspective would be like reading US crime reports to define all Americans.

Hamas is not a terrorist group. The IOF is a terrorist group, State-sponsored, and the fascists in the Knesset pay them with taxes from hard-working Americans.

Why are you promoting Nazism here? This obvious bigotry has no place in civilised discussion....see how it works?

You want to use peoples wiords to accuse them of the worst kinds of thoughts and opinions, and now find it turned back on yourself.

Best not to dare in the first place.8)

Are you serious in saying there was no dark periods?

Oh right, as long as it was not a muslim being persecuted, then it wasn't dark. Like the Almohads, and what they did to non-muslims.

Or how about how Egyptians slaughtered and killed Egyptian Jews?

    Or persecution of Copts?

Oh, and in some circles, barbarians will kill a muslim when he wants to leave islam.
    What about Granada Massacre?

How about the fact you people still sell your daughters, honor kill, and support the killing and oppresion of religious minorities?

Yeahh, Id say Muslims are much worse, and have yet to become better

    What are you talking about?

The Only Saint Bartholomew I know of is the Apostle that not much is known of. http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=390

And if you know about Protestants, then youd know they hadn't made the scene until many centuries later lol

I suggest your paranoid ass, go read from the start of this discussion I am having with these two women. Then youd know it stems from a bashing of the Christian religion, and nothing to do with Israel.

you might find this interesting: http://www.religioustolerance.org/curr_war.htm

while a lot of conflict does appea to involve Muslims - not all does, and in fact, a lot that does has very little to do with religion. often the conflict is based on tribal/ethnic groupings, and can be exacerbated by scarce resources.

it is simplistic to argue that Islam is the caus eof all these conflicts ... the war in the Congo has resulted in millions of deaths - and not linked to Islam; the Rwanda genocide occurred in a country that was mostly christian, a lot of the problems in India do not involve Muslims; Islam is not a factor in Sri Lanka, or the persecution of the Karen in Burma; or in the drug wars in mexico ...

also - the worst atrocities that we have seen in the last century have not occurred in Muslim countries, but have often occurred in countries where the majority are (or were) christian.

fair enough, that happens to me too - but I would never get st francis of assisi mixed up with anyone else. Interestingly, his philosophy was probably more closely related to some aspects of Islam and Judaism than some versions of christianity at the time, in terms of the values he espoused - even though he did argue for "just war" and told the muslims that it was rigjht that they be attacked because of their faith.

You indicate you may be catholic. that is interesting.

are you aware that Mary is regarded more highly in Islam than she is by most protestants?

In Turkey, not far from Ephesus, is a place where she is widely believed to have lived out her final years, and where the waters are believed to have curative powers, similar to lourdes.

    http://www.ephesustoursturkey.com/house_of_virgin_mary.php

last time I looked the Fifth Crusade was a christian invasion of muslim lands.

christians who got killed there might have been safer back home - oh - wait - that was only a few years after christians invaded constantinople and slaughtered their fellow christians. christians at home were killing each other back then.

I added it to a list of Christian massacres and am still waiting for the links of these Islamic ones we are all hearing about. I'm waiting for sources so I can read about them.

This is what all politicians strive for.
Just because one in history that was bad/evil managed to pull it off doesn't mean that those who attempt to pull it off are also bad/evil.
