One of the complaints is the Democrats aren't letting the Republicans subpoena anything or do anything besides be those on the committee being there.

It is getting to him more

Trump is well confused, I mean than normal, because he does not have a target. There are so many Democratic candidates that he cannot maintain focus on any single one of them.

    Brilliant strategy by Democrats

But that's different, Clinton was innocent, but the necessity to smear her was so great, and also those were fine GOP members whose methods can NEVER BE QUESTIONED!!!

When the facts are against you, you argue process, cuz it's all they've got. Too bad that argument holds no water either.

    Bullpucky.

Prior impeachments had investigations performed by special counsels or prosecutors, but Trump's little toady, Bill Barr, refused to assign one or to have the DOJ involved at all, probably an easy decision for him since his own name figured so prominently in that one phone call alone. He's in this up to his tripple chin. So the House has to conduct the hearings themselves, just like the GOP did in the many Benghazi hearings. Gowdy didn't let anyone into those closed hearings, either.

See comment 48. They are following their own rules to the letter. Don't like it? Call your representative.

This was a grandstanding stunt on Trump's behalf, because he's been whing for days about wanting Republicans to fight harder for him. Aw, poor widdle Donnie!

"... but special committees investigated charges before the Judiciary Committee was created in 1813." Exactly, which is what the Intelligence committee is doing, in accordance with official House Rules. See the link in comment 48.

She, not he. And, it was the hearing that Republicans attempted to disrupt.

    Try to keep up.

This is nonsensical. What the literal **** are you talking about? Please cite the "proper rules" that say you have to have a vote before conducting an impeachment inquiry. And what the **** does the judiciary have to do with impeachment proceedings?

Wow! Police?? Please refer to how our government was designed to work.

The House has the right and the duty of oversight of the executive branch as per our constitution. That includes powers of subpoena of documents and testimony .

They may refer findings for prosecution or they may use their powers of impeachment.

I'm betting that his childish showboating came from Trump's request for stronger defense of himself.

He wants his toadies hopping in a more lively manner.

At least the ones who went in with phones in hand, recording. That's not legal in a SCIF, which is where these hearings are taking place.

According to reports, a few of the reps involved in this stunt are actually on that committee and do have the right to be there, but because Trump has been whining and cajoling about the GOP not defending him, as if that were their job, they chose to join in the "fun."

No, this is the House doing their job, which is to provide oversight over the executive branch. Impeachment is part of those duties when a president breaks the law and/or abuses the authority of his office. It's in the Constitution.

Democrats are furious over Trump being elected so they concoct hoax after hoax to usurp the people via intervention. I thought it through, I just don't believe all of the hoaxes out of hand.

Clinton's case had a special prosecutor assigned by the DOJ. Trump's toady Bill Barr refused to do anything, no investigator, no FBI, so the House Intelligence committee has to do the investigation themselves.

Their job isn't to impeach the executive just because. And they don't have a legitimate reason.

    Good grief.

The reason this is a high crime in the first place was that Trump was holding up aid, which congress (via bipartisan vote) allocated for Ukraine's defense against our strongest foe. If that isn't about national security, nothing is.

For God's sake, over 40 Republicans (some of whom were among these protesters) HAVE access and have always had access. Pathetic.

Does a grand jury hold their hearings in public, so that their potential target can know what's coming? This is the same. If these hearings were instantly public, these witnesses would know what the others are saying, and could adjust their own testimonies accordingly.

Think of it this way: If, as your hero Trump keeps telling you, this process is just a bunch of "deep state" lefties out to get him, then keeping these hearings secret keeps them from all getting their stories straight.
