They most certainly do where oversight of the Executive branch is concerned.

If abuse of power, at the very possible consequence of weakening national security, is not a legitimate reason to impeach, what is? Does he have to actually go out and shoot someone on 5th Avenue? Or would that someone have to be someone you love before you would stop excusing his behavior?

Witchhunts, fishing expeditions, FISA abuses and illegal spying on American citizens, the Bidens' Ukraine scam and racket, the Democrat senators' blackmail of Ukraine, lying and law breaking Schitt, lying and law breaking hoaxblower, criminal leaks, smear, slander, denial of due process, coup attempts...

And surprise surprise. The radical left is up in arms hysterically bleating and throwing temper tantrums because American people demand transparency. Unreal. Jeez.

The Republicans in the room don't have to keep everything secret. Like the Dems involved, they can talk to the media and provide tidbits and their take on the proceedings or an individual witness. Since they aren't doing anything of the sort, that would indicate that they know Trump is guilty and don't want to try and reword any of the testimony or otherwise add spin in his favor. They could shine a light if they wanted to, but instead, many of those who do have a right to be in the room took part in this ridiculous stunt on Trump's behalf.

The GOP lost all honor when they hitched their wagons to Donald Trump.

Actually, six committees are involved in impeachment inquiries: Financial Services, Judiciary, Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, Oversight and Reform, and Ways and Means. I think the three that are conducting these witness hearings are Intelligence, Judiciary, and Foreign Affairs.

And there are plenty of Republicans on those committees, so if transparency is what the GOPers in this stunt want, why don't they ask their compatriots? Could it possibly be that there is an actual House rule against it, like the one I linked in comment 48? Oh, the horror! The bastids are following the rules!

What would you call hitching a wagon to the Queen of corruption?

As irresistable as such debates can sometimes be, like beating your head against a wall, it feels really good when you stop.

I'm not always a Pelosi fan, but feel grudging admiration enough to predict that history will hold her up near the top of the heap in American politics. Statues of her will be put in public places. Schools will be named for her. Government agencies will work in buildings bearing her name.

Trump, on the other hand, will only have statues if he builds them himself, and they'll on be placed on his own properties. History will record him as the single worst mistake American voters ever made.

You come up with the best nonsense of all the Trumpsters on this forum. There should be a prize for that.

he didn't abuse his power. So it's just impeaching for the sake of it. Every attempt to impeach has been based on a hoax.
in order to impeach him on abusive power he actually has to have abused his power.

This Ukrainian stupidity or was not an abuse of power. It's just the latest gotcha and a long litany of failed gotchas.

Did he unilaterally withhold funds that had been allocated by congress and the senate?

Some "officials" claim that but they'll claim anything to usurp the people and end democracy.

These "officials" would be enemies of the state, if they really exist.

Yes, he did. And admitted it. And so far, witnesses back that up, from what we can tell by the opening statements that have been made public.

How is it a "gotcha" when Trump was, in fact, holding up both a WH official visit and nearly $400 in military aid until Zelenskiy went on TV and publicly announced he was investigating Burisma? This has been corroborated by multiple witnesses and backed up by text messages and testimony.

Trump is not a victim. He's the villain in this, as in so much over the last few years. Facts are facts, and they aren't on his side.

Then there will be no problem with impeachment.

    We shall see.

Let me guess, you did not vote for her? Funny how it's so hard to find any, now. I thought you were not a fan of snark and insults? Yet here you are, OK then.

It only excites the Trump haters, like the pansie, candy ass'es who wasted their OWN $ to erect such junk. But hey, I bet it really tickles you, enjoy. Why is the left, focused in on his penis? Penis envy?

It's so funny how they desperately try to say this isn't about the loss in 2016. Everybody knows that's all it's about.

It's like a child with chocolate frosting all over their face denying that they ate the chocolate cake.

This whole thing is so bizarre. We have Lefitsts crying about "Democracy" while their party works behind closed doors keeping the truth secret. "Democracy" with no vote from the HOR. "Democracy" has become Authoritarianism for Democrats.
