The one that always got me was "Forgive them, for they know not what they do." The idea that forgiveness for sins can be granted due to ignorance and doesn't require repentance or any kind of acceptance of Jesus, and can even be granted to those who expressly reject him, flies in the face of the later Pauline Christianity that became "traditional" Christianity.

Wasn’t paul the guy who told us about christ without ever having met him? I would think that one or more of the 12 apostles would have a more accurate basis to inform us.... or write books about the topic. Instead.... ALL the so called scripture was written be people with no direct knowledge of jesus.

For me, i would think that if god went to the extremis of sending his only son to save the world...he would have arranged to have at least one person who met his son who would make a first person account of what he said that was so important

There are some protestants denominations that have in their doctrine the bible is the literal and inspired word of god. All of it.
RC is also closely tied to the belief the bible is the literal and inspired word of god.
So, there's a lot of christians that believe the bible literally. So it's not a strawman.

And yes, to those Christian religions that believe the 100% literal inspired word of god, any others are NOT true Christians.

 

The Bible is based upon superstition. Those who wrote it were afraid of the dark and terrified of monsters at the edge of a flat earth.

God - in His infinite wisdom - never sent any offspring to act as His emissary. God is quite capable of doing his own bidding. Does any "believer" not understand that? They must think God is an idiot.

It is 100% Gods word to be interpreted with the original meaning. It is not all historical it is not all literal. some of it is poetry, some of it is song, some of it is straight up history some of it is allegorical some of it is prophetical.

ancient Greek Hebrew and Aramaic are much more dynamic languages than modern english more tenses of verbs than we use, nouns that are much more specific than we use. reading and english translation from a modern American english language perspective will get you the basics but that's about it.
