So why don’t inmates have the same rights?

Sure. If someone takes away your rights then they get punished for it appropriately and within the rule of law

Where are these inherent rights defined? Why only those that were found convenient by the founders were included? Is there a list they used? Any religious texts list them?
Does learning about something makes it true? What about Marxism?
Are you going to show any of it in your posts?

coherent English is what I rely on since I’m not trying to be Fettermen who is a fine example of a typical Democrat!

don’t worry, I’m not expecting you to understand any of that too

nope, it is. Declaration of Independence says so, as well as we are duty bound to punish those who take gods rights away from us.

very simple stuff. Sorry you’re having a hard time with it

God doesn't give us our rights at all because some people on the planet have none. There is no God if there is then let him/her/it/? show themselves and do battle.

Doesn’t matter. That’s the fun part, all these atheist liberals and their god-hate are missing the point. The point is government shouldn’t be dictating what rights we have and don’t have which means we can’t be oppressed in such manner by government.

problem is these same liberals want to oppress us so that’s why 20 of them came out of the woodwork in 20 seconds of this thread creation foaming at the mouth at both God and their inability to be authoritarians

The religion of God is of an authoritative state that exists withing the spheres of govt. in fact, the Bible tells you to be submissive to the state and not cause problems.

Same way that lots of countries WITHOUT a second amendment do - by speaking out and protesting

If it has devolved to guns you no longer have a country you have a civil war

so ex-fellons should have the right to vote, own guns, etc...?

or should government be dictating those rights?

heck, even deciding which humans can live where on this planet?

there is no God here, tell you what, if he wants to lead this world, he can come do it, until then, we are on our own ......

LOL, Gov DeSantis is trying but failing to explain why the Enlightenment philosophy is the cornerstone of our government but failing miserably, however, some here are taking it literally as in the Bible gave us the rights and that is not accurate. Nothing in the Bible says or does any of that. We have two commandments and they are painfully obvious.

What DeSantis is trying to do is allow conservatives to become the next Sanhedrin to regulate everything a person does base on religiosity. Remember, Christians in this country believed that slavery came from God and was allowed by God, and then there were Christians who thought otherwise. We called them Abolitionists. DeSantis is doing the same thing, except he is not understanding the slavery issue in America as the Hill explains here.

An eye for an eye. Even God will suspend your rights through the authority He gives to man.

Considering how many things God forbids and that there is nothing in His words against slavery, what else can one conclude?

    Prove it.

Which God do you believe created human rights? There are so many to choose from. Which men get to decide which god rules? All religions tell us the same things

    1. My church is the one true church.
    2. My faith is the one true faith.
    3. My god is the one true god.

They can't all be right. Applying the princincipal/intent of Occam's Razor, which basically states that the simplest explanation is preferable to one that is more complex: None are true.

Our rights come from the men who founded this country as a secular nation, and gave us a Constitution and Bill of Rights to guarantee the rights of we the people. Why do you think the 1st Amendment begins with "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion ..."?

Take this stuff to the Religion & Philosophy forum, please. This doesn't qualify as news, which is what Current Events are about.

God didn't create us, we created god.

Such as voting for instance and yet Conservatives make it damn hard for people in the urban areas, among the poor, etc, even fighting off Election Day as a federal Holiday.

Then you have some god-fearing conservatives, such as John Gibbs, who say the 19th amendment was a mistake. Or that MTG says that Democrats who move to the Red States should have their voting rights suspended for five years or more, or not allow 25-year-olds to vote because the Conservatives can't get them to vote for their causes or taking away Tik Tok and other social media devices because the conservatives don't like the content to the average consumer not working for the government.
