Because parents want their children to have comprehensive sex education.
Huh? Kids see all sorts of things on the internet, so I'd say they should get information they need to deal with what they run across.

Limits to what? Parents being involved in setting sex education curriculum?

It was in response to another poster who basically said they don't see a problem with porn sort of thing. that is all.

Porn is readily available there and parental controls will only work when they’re very young as after that they’ll be more tech savvy than the parents. But mostly they don’t care anyway. Maybe a little curious but ultimately would rather watch others play video games

That's right, we are talking about public schools which means if someone doesn't have a kid in school that doesn't mean they can't have an opinion. Any taxpayer paying school taxes has a say.

And I say it seems to me the likelihood of someone in this thread not being able to be with 1,000 feet of a school is a high possibility.

It is outright demented and ****ed up to have trans garbage, groomer garbage and porn in schools.

As in medicine, science, news media, private enterprise, curricula should be designed by those with expertise, in education in this case, not by ideologues with no qualifications pandering to crackpots who yearn for authoritarian dictates.

Banning study of a Renaissance masterpiece while hyping a naked dead dude enjoying the perversion of capital punishment is quite goofy.

Correct. Public schools are all our business while private schools are the business of those who finance and attend them. I was making sure it isn't assumed I'm advocating polices be forced on private schools the way we quite correctly do with pubic schools that are our business.
Everyone can have an opinion, including the Aussies on the forum. In some way, foreigners knowledgeable about us--Alexis de Tocqueville comes to mind--have many useful insights into our problems. Citizens have every right to press their ideas on government-run schools, but I think we should be careful about pushing ideas on private schools.
Who are you talking about when "not being able to be with 1,000 feet of a school" suggests someone is by law not entitled? A sex offender, perhaps?

I taught high school for three decades and there are people in this thread who I would watch to see if they cause a problem while on campus. It's one thing to be opposed to the school having books dealing with LGBTQ+ concerns and quite something else to make an issue of the books while visiting.

Years ago, we had an assistant pastor in a local church walked into our school and told high school girls in the hallway that Rod Stewart was in the hospital (he cancelled a concert locally) and that they pumped two quarts of semen out of him. Of course, some of the girls were creeped out and reported the goings on to the school office. Several of us on staff (6' males) greeted him warmly :) and directed him to the exit.
What is "groomer garbage?" Grooming students for sex? What do you think is porn? I assume "trans garbage" refers to anything not strictly rejecting "trans" as a perversion of some sort.

You should know your views are way out of the mainstream among parents of school children. As a teacher, I was always first and foremost concerned with how my students' parents were thinking about my course content. The opinions of taxpayers was important, too, but not as guiding as what students' parents wanted.

Nope. It shows up in Google, but I think it's a parody.

    That's what they're called.

Why would you think only a "sick twisted FREAK" would tell students about "sex toys?" They're common and easily had by students. Some "toys" aren't entirely safe and students should have the information in the opinion of most parents.

If an exttremist does not like the science being taught, they are more than willing to homeschool their own kids on the subject. Pretty soon, we will see just how little they know what science is and they won't get into college because those SAT/ACT scores would be too low.

Four-time failed Democratic Party nominee for President. It was your great great grandad's (women didn't vote in most states) party. :)

I had once considered raising a child with exposure only to Middle English during the years his linguistic acquisition capability was most acute.

His preparedness for becoming a Chaucerian scholar would be considerable, but his potential otherwise rather narrow.

Knowledge is power, and forewarned is forearmed,

Acquiring an unemotional understanding of an unavoidable biological necessity, sex, before the stage of development when hormones rage, is protection against being victimized by repressive perverts.

Yes, sex manuals for elementary school kids. Books should be age appropriate.

How about the left’s desire to change books that are already in print because they don’t conform to the left’s modern point of view? When the left accuses the right of banning books, it would seem that the left wants to do the same thing,

The **** if my views are....and if they are now....it means our society has fully collapsed. You, a supposed teacher...and support all this vile ****? Makes a good case for private schools.

I'm afraid so. Starting with Nixon in 1968, they started collecting Southern whites who no longer had a comfy home in the Democratic Party. Toss in the evangelicals and you've got the people pushing the Republican Party wayyyyy to the right. It looks as though abortion is the hill the hill they've chosen to die on. And here I had thought it would be race.

Well a nice picture book for little kiddies with a big red X over trans freaks is all it takes. Of course the left doesn't want that. They want sexual perversion to be taught at early ages...especially if they can promote mental illnesses such as trans this or that.

I also, had assumed that its becoming an increasing exclusive enclave of aging, less-educated white men would determine its fate in an increasingly diverse, better-educated nation.

Instead, the advocate of small government libertarianism somehow became the authoritarian aggressor into the most private of personal matters - and at a time when women are more involved and assertive, and medical abortion facilitates a woman's prerogative at the earliest stage of pregnancy.

I would prefer Latin or Greek, since most words in the Western World are derivied from one of those two sources. There are some Germanic words, Norse words and so forth, but a predominant amount come from Greek or Latin.

Where has the study of a Renaissance masterpiece banned?
