The bible condones rape, with the only punishment being that the man must pay the girl's father a sum of money and marry her, and it also condones slavery, animal cruelty, and many other things that today are considered wrong and even evil.

Your logic is that if it's not good it's not religion...buyt the truth is religion is not always good.

There are many parts in most religions that are morally wrong, that does not mean that they are not religions.

Maybe, but Christians are not practicing those illegal actions in our society.
If push comes to shove though, I'll agree to let you boot the Christians if you throw the Muslims out too.

The logic that religion is what is good holds true in the Christian religion. Same with some other religions. A code of ethics IS part of what religion is, not just belief in a supreme entity. Simple logic proves that.

Thus, with Islam's severe lack of ethics, it could never be considered a religion.

    1. For all the lamebrains in this thread who insist that Islam is a religion, let me say first that millions of people around the world do NOT accept Islam to be a religion. Over the past 1400 years, Billions have rejected it as such. The below links are a tiny sample of some of the Islam Is Not A Religion school of thought in the world. A noteworthy one also is the Center for Security Policy (an all-star cast of US Homeland Security experts) which considers Islam unconstitutional, seditious, and, in their book Sharia: the Threat to America, they claim that "Islam is masquerading as a religion".

    2. As far as banning Islam in America, it doesn't matter if it is a religion or not. What matters is that it is supremacist, and thus violates Article 6, section 2 of the US Constitution (the Supremacy Clause). Therefore, Islam cannot stand in the USA in its unconstitutional status.

    3. Because of Islam's supremacism. it also is in violation of the US Sedition laws (USC 2384 & 2385)

    Seditious conspiracy (18 U.S.C. § 2384) is a crime under US law.

"If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined or imprisoned not less than 20 years, or both."

    TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 115 > § 2385

§ 2385. Advocating Overthrow of Government

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or
Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or
Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

Nope, see we got this thing called freedom of religion, which includes the right to practise Isalm.

Once you start banning religion, and the right to practice religion freely, you have to ask yourself what's next.

So to sum it up, thanks but no thanks.

Presumably because Muslims are immigrating in or converting enough Americans to start needing dedicated mosques for services. While I understand that some Christians are willing to violate local building safety codes to host 50-100 people in home bible studies, it seems that Muslims are more willing to build mosques as required.

    All religions are ideologies.

A person can be a Muslim in America while recognizing that Sharia law is incompatible with American laws. That's why so many American Muslims aren't pushing for Sharia law. As with most religions, Muslims are free to pick and choose as they wish from their religion. There are plenty of laws required of Jews and Christians in the bible which are also incompatible with US law--yet somehow the Christians and Jews have, for the most part, managed to restrain themselves. For example, the bible explicitly states that a parent ought to murder their child for talking back to them. That's not legal in the US either.

No more or less than the bible demands that Christians stone a person to death for wearing clothing of two mixed fabrics.

Because your xenophobic fear of Muslims has deprived you and those like you of your common sense.

Right. Even if someone buys the argument that Islam promotes unconstitutional views, Muslims still have the right to pursue a constitutional amendment to make Sharia constitutional. That's what it means to have an open society. Are some Americans really so fearful and insecure that they think our American ideology could not compete and win in an open marketplace of ideas? Freedom and individual choice are universally compelling beliefs.

Congratulations ! You know the 1st Amendment. Now show us Article 6, Section 2 (the Supremacy Clause) of the US Constitution which is higher ranking above the 1st Amendment, and higher ranking above "Anything in the Constitution" (these words in italics taken directly from the Supremacy Clause).

As I said in Post # 11 (often we have to repeat ourselves for those who don't bother to read the thread from its beginning) :

The first amendment is a relatively weak part of the Constitution, and has numerous exceptions to it. For example, with free speech there is libel, slander, fighting words, sedition, treason, inciting a riot, conspiracy laws, perjury - all illegal. In contrast, the Supremacy Clause (Article 6, section 2) is the most powerful part of the Constitution, and even notes in it that it is supreme over anything else in the Constitution itself :

"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."
    "any Thing in the Consti
That "Anything in the Consitution" part includes the 1st amendment.

There are just as many good parts in Islam as there is in Christianity or any other religion......I have read the Quran and I realized a long time ago that most of the quotes you see flaunted about that make Islam seem bad are taken out of context. For example, the part that says that all non-beleivers should be killed is a horriblely bad translation that only comes about in the english version of the book. The true translation is "Those who attack Islam", which is accepted, byu most Muslims to me anyone who openly attacks Muslims or Muslim nation for the fact that they are Muslim.

The fact is that most Muslims are good people......Sayng Islam is a religion of evil based on the actions of some of it's follows is no different than saying All christians are evil because they follow the same religion as the Nazis' and the KKK.

In Islam the Koran teaches that Muslims have to abide by the laws of the land.. and if that becomes too onerous, they have to leave.

You are arguing from a postition of extreme ignorance.

That is the problem with most anti-Muslim stances in America....Most of the people who preac the evils of Islam have never even seen a copy of the Quran, let alone took the time to read it and actually see what it says....They just see the quotes tha the morons on fox news, a program which has been know countless times to purposely distort the news to fit their right wing, christian propaganda, have to say about it.

Read the book Sharia: the Threat to America by the Center for Security Policy, which not only denotes various instances of Sharia law being used in America, not just in arbitration, but also focuses the threat of the possibility of a Muslim takeover of the US government. It certainly can happen, and I'd be interested to hear upon what you justify the statement that it can't.

Also, private affairs are not outside the jurisditiction of US laws. Lots of "private affairs (domestic battery, fraudulent contracts, etc) have put people in prison for years.

The supremacy clause does not deny a person the right to pursue changes to the constitution. The basis of the first amendment lies in the recognition of the natural right for a person to believe what he wishes. It guarantees him the right to express those unpreventable beliefs, and to pursue legal and political means to make those beliefs a reality. The first amendment must come before the supremacy clause in this, because it entitles a person to the right to pursue an amendment to the constitution.

All it really means is that Sharia law cannot be the law of the United States until people who want Sharia law can amend the constitution to allow it.

Actually, there is a part of the constitution that must stand above the supremacy clause, and that is the part of the constitution that outlines how it can be amended. You've entered into one of the areas where the Constitution's authors revealed their fallibility. They were not perfect people either. They overlooked certain things, didn't consider certain facts, and weren't anticipating the bill of rights when they initially penned parts of the constitution.

Suggesting to outright ban a religion is extremist. It's terrible and motivated by an illogical fear and ignorance of what's what.
It's like banning Christianity. It's stupid.

It just isn't that big a problem.. Ask any American who has ever lived in the Arab world.

Funny thing is that when Americans arrive, we often have preconceived ideas about Islam that soon fall by the wayside.

Conservative Americans have a great deal in common with Muslims.. like love of family, good manners and social values.

No they don't. Christianity does not put itself SUPREME above the US Constitution, and neither does any religion, ideology, or cult. Only Islam does that. You stand corrected.

No it's doesn't - see post 11. Depends on whether the practicing of the faith, as you call it, violates the Constitution and laws of the USA. Problem is Islam does just that.

NEW POSTERS - Please read the whole thread. It's tiring to have to repeat things over and over.
