So you thought that sex was binary with a strict division between male and female

Wherever there's an "inserter" and an "insertee", you know, a hole and a peg, there's some kind of possibility for sex, I guess. It's the least of our national problems. After orgasm, it's all just a memory anyway.

Now add in this factor. The SRY gene is the one responsible for the development of the male organs. It can sometimes detach from the Y chromosomes. So is the person still male because they have the Y chromosomes even if it is missing the SRY gene?

Also, did you notice how Tough Talk has made the claim opposite yours? So who is supposed to be correct here, if this is supposed to be science determined?

The percentage of this is minuscule and always has deformities in the genitals. Those who are born with no deformities it is very obvious what their chromosome make up is. So if we used this as a standard for transgenderism the no one would be able to transition unless deformities are already present.

You are still talking physical things that can be observed very easily.

So a police anthropologist finds a highly decomposed set of skeletal remains in a random location in the woods reported by a hunter perhaps.....

The first thing they would do is utilize absolutely real science and tell you for certain whether this is a male or a female.

It has everything to do with transgenderism. Especially as there is growing evidence that MRI and other scans are showing that the transgender brains reflect the chosen sex rather than the assigned birth sex

And occasionally the result comes back as intersex - you haven’t been reading my links have you?

Now tell me when opponents are observing these things in order to tell a person they are not what they claim. IOW, if I claim to be a trans woman what are you observing that allows you to say that I'm not one of those exceptions?

Again please watch-/+ read the links and medically based information I have been providing. Intersex or DSD is more common than red hair

However my friend the lines are increasingly blurring as we do more and more research on brain structure differences and the transgender brain

Skeletons are clearly identifiable. Did you know they could even tell age to a pretty reliable degree by the teeth?

Granted, but that still doesn't counter the point of biological sex in and of itself. Most intersex conditions are solidly one sex or the other. For all that we are talking about fruits (and I know that'll bring comments from the immature) we're still comparing apples and oranges with intersex and transgender

Are we talking about transgender or hermaphodite?

The two are separate. A hermaphrodite is born with confused sex organs. An estimated four out of five people that identify as transgender have diffinitively defined sex organs. These four of of five have a different kind of confusion and I pity their condition.

But I'm not going to play pretend with them and lie.

It may be more common but it also has visual effects to the genitals.

On what basis are you asserting that? Do not try to tell me “common sense” when I am quoting from medical literature

“Hermaphrodite” is a dated term as we have now discovered far too many variations to fit that category. The current accepted term is Intersex/Disorder of Sexual Development and encompasses such issues as CAID Complete androgen insensitivity syndrome - where the cells of the person do not recognise or process testosterone

All I can say is that you too should read my links. The subtleties of abnormalities that are affecting sexual and gender development are still being discovered and, as I have pointed out numerous times we have yet to determine the actual measurable effect/s of the Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals that are ubiquitous

Of course I know that that's why I mentioned it to begin with. Nice article on the variation of female pelvis's.

And the pelvis is certainly not the only bone that is distinct to sex. The overall size and thickness of the bones is also a reliable indicator of sex.

So you guys are just now discovering the range of genetic variation on the fringes? They are outliers. Sounds a lot like how we got LBGTQ now, when before the Q covered the lot of them. It still does, and now that you have discovered the intricacies the Q are still Qs.

If you are born with confused genitals, fine choose your gender. But if you ain't physically abnormal, you should really play the hand you were dealt. You can't just toss your cards in and demand a new set of cards. That's not how life works.

Again not necessarily. Mate I AM a health professional and although this is not my primary field the research I have been doing on this has left me gobsmacked at the sheer complexity and variations seen

The NHS site is an easy reading start to the complexities of DSD

What about CAID and CAH? Indeed what about the role of EDCs?

If you can choose your gender what next? :)

Can you choose your dollar bill to be a twenty? Of course not, because it's not a twenty, it's a dollar.

Maybe I choose my cat to be a fish? Well in that tank the tabby goes!

She swam all around after I threw her in the water, but now that I put the lid on she seems to floating on top sleeping.

And I examine and collect the bones of dead things I find for a hobby and I've done a fair bit of research for a layman.

    So what is your specialty?

I let my posts speak for themselves but suffice it to say I have many many years of education in the healthcare industry AND as an educator

Casual reading around a subjrpect does NOT a make you an expert
