The AR15 is, for all intents and purposes, an M16

Equating an AR-15 to an M16 is like equating a can of tuna fish with Chateaubriand for two.

That's why they say stuff like an AR-15s bullet and not a 223 or 5.56 mm cartridge.

They're magic bullets tipped with uranium that can go through like 50 people. They can shoot through three houses in a row and go around corners !!!

I would love to see the SCOTUS overturn that unconstitutional law.

That’s like saying a .22 is a weapon of war because the recoil is low. And higher recoil can be shot just as fast. The AR-10 is another semi auto (not full auto like the m-16) that has much more recoil and much much more damage and range. Why aren’t you all complaining about that rather than the AR-15? Just because someone told you to, that’s why. Try thinking rather than following.

And they weigh as much as ten boxes. You can set them to full semi-automatic fire

    Don't forget the chainsaw bayonet

I guess if you only want to shoot one person that reasoning works. But I have been in combat. Its not about shooting one person. When you have lots of bad guys out there, hitting a guy in the hand and sending him running so you can get the next guy from not shooting you is just fine. Lethality (killing the bad guy) is a lot less important than getting him to stop shooting AT YOU.

true-which is why the gun banners who claim the purpose of "assault weapons" (a term that generally guarantees the user is either ignorant or dishonest and usually both) is to kill prove how clueless they are. inflicting casualties and suppressing movement are the main purposes of an infantry rifle

Without understanding that THE AR series of rifles is available in over 100 calibers.

The AR-15 is different than other rifles.

It's a little known secret that I probably shouldn't talk about but I'll spill the beans....

It's voodoo.... That's right, every time a gunsmith makes an AR-15 he performs a magical ceremony over it

That explains the pentagrams on the inside of the receiver where the holes for the auto sear go

that is why Rock River Arms, SIG Arms, PSA, Colt, Daniels Defense. Armalite, Windham Weaponry Faxon Arms, Anderson Arms, HM Defense etc have burial sites behind their factories filled with the remains of goats and chickens that were sacrificed by the builders of those weapons

All this fuss about AR-15. AR-15 fires the 223 Remington (5.56 NATO) round. The much heavier, faster 308 (7.62 NATO) goes a lot further.

The AR-15 fires lots of different calibers and lots of different types of bullets. The .224 Valkyrie has much better long distance ballistics than that 168 BTHP, and that .223 using a 77 grain SMK has almost identical long range ballistics as that 168gr BTHP.

The whole point is to make the AR platform unavailable. Then, mass shooters will select another type of firearm that inflicts the same amount of carnage. Then, they ban those guns. The ultimate goal is to ban ALL guns.

Saying an AR 15 is essentially like an M 16 is like saying a horse is essentially like a motorcycle.

that's really not accurate. AR 15s and M16s have about 99% of the same parts.

AR-15s do come in more flavors, and I'd bet that the vast majority of AR-15s have 16" barrels with either carbine or mid-length gas systems while M-16s have 20" barrels with rifle systems. AR-15s also are available in many more calibers than M-16s are.

The military certainly doesn't have the logistics tail in place to support and service most AR-15s, so they really aren't suitable for military use regardless of failing to meet specs for M-16s or M4s. Your point is certainly more valid than AARguy's.
