Why are 1,500 Americans still dying from COVID every week?

At this point everyone agrees the pandemic is history, and we are now at a normalized stage, but Covid is still killing thousands of American. Yes, they are older people with other health issues, but they would not die if Covid wasn't around. Covid kills 1500+ Americans every week, while the flu kills only 163. US life expectancy is falling because of this.

I am not saying this to suggest some kind of government action is necessary, but primary physicians should do what they can to instruct the elderly on how to minimize the risk of getting infected. Unfortunately there are people who bought into the "nothing burger" lines, and think its harmless, or that the vaccine is a conspiracy etc. People make their own choices as it should be, but its concerning that life expectancy is declining. Its down to 76 yrs, and they want to raise the retirement age to 70, which means we pretty much work until we die. No bueno.

Experts say some Americans aren't accessing available vaccines and treatments.

More than three years into the pandemic, hundreds of Americans are still dying from COVID-19 every week.

For the week ending Dec. 9, the last week of complete data, there were 1,614 deaths from COVID, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The last four weeks of complete data show an average of 1,488 weekly deaths.

By comparison, there were 163 weekly deaths from the flu for the week ending Dec. 9

They may not be. Better to say that 1500 Americans are dying while testing positive for covid. I don't believe there are any post mortem activites to certify the death certificate.

 

As well they changed how they record COVID deaths on Death certificates. If COVID is merely a contributing factor, it is listed as THE cause of death.

 

It's obviously not a pandemic at this point. It appears to be a new sickness that humans before 2019 didn't have to deal with, but all humans after 2019 will have to deal with.

Well, you can say that, but somehow mortality jumped 20% during the pandemic, and now deaths are still occurring but at a much slower pace. These are additional deaths, which is why life expectancy is declining.

Yes, something to deal with, and hopefully primary care doctors are giving the elderly good advice. Being informed is the best way to fight this.

 

Last week, the National Vital Statistics System, which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provided new guidance for those who submit death certificates. It said they should list coronavirus if it was assumed to cause or contribute to a death.

How many of the deaths qare anti vaxxers?? What are the age groups most affected? Did they have other chronic conditions that complicated their medical status?? Numbers alone don't tell the whole story.

I suspect that 80-90% of the deaths are people who took the "vaccine" that was supposed to "Produce Immunity to a specific disease". Thats why they arent even reporting on that.

Because the baby boomer demographic is checking out. As hard as we try, we cannot seem to live forever. As for me, "so far, so good!"

 

Because a large proportion of those more vulnerable to the disease are the same ones skeptical of the treatments for it for political reasons. And it's a bit more severe, on average, than seasonal flu for older persons.

 

I've been saying that since March of 2020. I haven't believed the government covid numbers ever. Too much power and control involved and they don't seem to be able to kick the habit. Another government statistic says that the average age of people "killed by covid" is 86 years. There are a lot of unhealthy 86 year olds. I should know. I'm almost 80 and I have no fewer than 4 of the conditions the CDC warned about. If the statistic is true then the "killed by covid" is not true given the many conditions that can kill a person who has or has not been tested positive for covid. Since the deaths are not confirmed by autopsy, then the doctors are simply following the CDC guidelines. There isn't even evidence that covid has killed younger people without some sort of ancillary condition being involved.

Incidentally, most of my physicians agree with me.

I view the government response to covid as being overly driven by CYA to be kind and fraudulent to be more pointed. It has been very destructive to our country and its people. Having said that I do supportt vaccination since it has been shown to be effective in reducing hospitalizations. I don't doubt that the vaccines have saved lives because serious medical conditions can be exacerbated with the presence of a pulmonary virus. The distancing, mask wearing and hand washing improved peoples' peace of mind but they didn't do much to mitigate infection.

 

Which may explain why my immune system seems to work quite well. I cook all my own meals and I use no processed ingredients. I didn't always do it that well but I have for the past 5 or 6 years. The result has been a spry old man with normal body weight and the ability to do what most men my age can't do physically I've been through a lot of medical problems but they all seem to be behind me now. I can't stress enough the value of a healthy diet.

 

Its like the belief that a man can give birth and become a mother. Its still not true, but they changed the meaning of a "man" to make it true. A female who identifies as a male is now a real man that can give birth like any other woman.
Im 63. In the 1960s going to school we had to have "VACCINES" for small pox, polio and the measles. One shot and your immune for life. NOW a shot that reduces the chances of needing to go to the hospital by 30% for 4 months, and does absolutely nothing for you after then. and they can call it a vaccine, BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE FRIGGIN DEFINITION OF a VACCINE! No longer do they "produce immunity" to the disease and instead need only "stimulate the body's immune response".
