    Thank you!

My point exactly, not to mention who the hell the mining companies think they are,oh ,I forgot ,They are Transnationals can do as they wish!

Would you say that in your experience as a scrutineer that the ALP and Liberal Parties ,supply most scrutineers?

Have you ever scrutineered at a polling Booth were although standing Candidates,a Political Party was unable to supply actual scrutineers!?

I love the logic that states that anyone can be a scrutineer and therefore that there is no chance for fraud. Last I checked con-artists, scammers, shysters, and thieves were all included under the heading of "anyone".

Malcolm Turnball,is still the most popular 'poltitican'in the Liberal Party.

You won't feed them if they were starving!

maybe, but voting fraud is almost unknown under the system we have. Perhaps its just an Australian thing.

Not Everyone can in the sense that if you don't agree with a "Registered Political Party"and have their endorsment,it is a Federal Offence to be present at the vote counting.

    You get locked away!

    Not very Democratic ,Hey!

One would think that Registration of political Parties ,would ensure that Only Politcal Parties would run in the electorial Process but not ,here in the Land of OZ!

No ,The Mining Cmpanies [BHP,Rio-Tinto }are campaining openly for the Lib\Nats Coalition Party.Watch the 2 Party Westminster System of Government disintergrate in this election!

For the first time since Federation, the Political Duopoly is Breached:sun::date::sun:

Elections are distorted veiws of Politics, and taking that into account,The best result for the Working Class in Australia ,is a Parliament full of Independents but as that seems highly unlikely then the probable result of ALP Greens Coalition will do fine.

The Coalition Government of great Britian is no Accident!

Is this your First land of OZ,Election?

Our little brother has a tendency to sneak out the back door and wander off the farm from time to time.

Australia uses pencils in case they screw up and elect another Whitlam as Prime Minister. Makes it a lot easier for us to set things aright again.

It's curious that only America and Afghanistan have issues with voting fraud.

Australia and New Zealand have heard of it only in the news.

Queensland did not have a fraud as much as a complete and utter Gerrymander - and by an Ex-Kiwi.

In the Days of Joh (Bjekle-Petersen) the electoral boundaries were re-drawn every time someone moved house. The boundaries had more wriggles than a map of the Norwegian coastline

Bloody lucky - rotten old sod that he was!! Though to be truthful he was less evil than the victim of manipulation - he was not really very bright and that allowed a lot of puppetmasters to pull strings.

I would be tempted to steal the pen if they allowed us to vote with them. There is just no sense in stealing a pencil!

The irony in this thread is staggering, given that many states in the US allow electronic voting on machines known to be highly vulnerable to tampering.

I know but sometimes the simplest systems are the hardest to stuff up.

Here we are talking about pencils when we should be asking how the US will overcome its long and distinguished history of electoral fraud. Which, as we know, is still rampant (Florida, South Carolina, Ohio ring any bells?).

And Americans think they live in a democracy!

Honestly, I have no problem with electronic voting, as long as it produces a paper receipt that can be independently counted and verified.

I totally agree!! One of the biggest problems America has is that all the states have different systems. And to be honest with you I really really think you should consider a preferential system as being cheaper and simpler than the current run off voting for president
