If you had Jesus' alleged magic super-powers would you have answered the prayers of most of the 6 million Jews during the Holocaust? Modern Secular Humanists like Sam Harris care about people, even people who are different than they are, so he of course would have done so.

Me, I care about people too much to say anything but "of course I would have, even if their prayers were not directed at me!".....I'd feel immoral not answering it that way, as I think any ethical person would.

    But what about you?

How do you know that God didn't answer their prayers?

What kind of sick puppy - god/Jesus in this case, would answer a prayer by seeing that they were "genocided" in Nazi gas chambers!?
"Please god, let us escape this horrible concentration camp" (god thinks about it, and then sees to it that they get murdered in cold-blood!)
    Not a "god" I'd think was compassionate.....one reason I left god/Jesus.

How do you know that is what they were praying for?

If it were me I would be praying that God end my suffering and bring me home to Heaven.

So in a way, god answered their prayers via the holocaust

Everyone is going die whether it be peacefully in your sleep or extremely violently. God does not promise anything in that regards, He only tells us to be prepared for it when it happens. this world is violent and there is and will be suffering but it is how we handle that suffering and those trials which get us tickets Heaven, not by having God snap his fingers and making life easy for you.

Well, they are DEAD now (thanks, all-powerful, all-loving Jesus/Allah), so my poll didn't work out too well, but my guess would be that millions of them prayed, but not 100% of them. If you had Jesus' magic super-powers, would you have answered their prayers (of the ones that did pray) to be spared from death at the hand of evil men? I would, how about you?

    - - - Updated - - -

So then obviously praying for something less important than death, such as doing well in one's business or in school, would likely be useless, argeed?....seeing how the all-knowing invisible friend would of course know priorities very very well.

    Have a logical day.

    - - - Updated - - -

So the moral of the story is DON'T PRAY, holy crap!!

Keep in mind, Jesus is (allegedly) so insane that he didn't say that daddy was wrong in killing all innocent animals (except the ones on the boat) in his "flood". If my dad was a mass-murderer of innocents I'd of course condemn him to no end....unlike Jesus...and I bet most of you would too. (Showing that you are far more moral than Jesus....so you don't need him as a moral guide, you've moved beyond Jesus.)

Oh, then you have no idea wth you're talking about then, and are just making it all up.

    Got it.

    Yet again.

Hey, when your distant relatives are the ones responsible for his son being killed, what's a loving daddy to do but commit genocide in seeking revenge?

    - - - Updated - - -

Correct, we'll never know what % prayed, but for the ones that DID pray, would you have answered their prayers if you had Jesus' magic super-ninja X-men mutant super-powers? Are you avoiding this easy question?

    - - - Updated - - -

After seeing a few responses on this thread to the question in the OP, it seems like PULLING TEETH to try to get religious people to simply say the morally correct thing - that they'd answer the prayers of the holocaust victims that prayed....why is that? Is it that Jesus has failed to create moral followers? I don't know, but hopefully someone can tell us. This is really starting to bother me.

If everyone could simply pray and have all their requests granted then what would be the point anyways since that would essentially be Heaven.

If everyone who prayed to never die had it happen then nobody would ever die. Ultimately there is nobody that can escape death and I doubt that very many of them find it pleasant, they all suffer to some degree.

If Jesus was moral, he'd likely ANSWER the big prayers (such as saving innocent children from the evil Nazis), and maybe not answer (as much) the small prayers, such as prayers to help people's gardens grow. But Jesus is not real, so that doesn't happen.

Can you answer the question in the OP instead of doing your impression of the artful dodger?

    - - - Updated - - -

If you had Jesus' magic super-powers would you end that suffering? I would, because I care more about people than Jesus (if he's real) does...as would most Modern Secular Humanists.

Clearly we're seeing a different level in morality on this thread between Modern Secular Humanism and religion.

When you talked to the authors of the Bible, to verify their wild unscientific claims, what did you discover?

Of course I wouldn't answer it because suffering here on earth is not the point. If I were Jesus and made it so that nobody ever suffered then we would be describing Heaven. You seem to have a problem grasping that little fact.

Oh, I'm not here to answer to you.

Wouldn't matter if I did because you would just make a new thread later, with the same question in a different form. Basically why you're here, right? (rhetorical)

I just stopped in to make fun of the ridiculousness of the question itself.

You may want to take a break from posting your questions, and actually read up on who you're posting about.

Jews praying to Jesus..... lol, ffs.

if the Holocaust was part of God's plan, how could prayer change his mind?

No, come on. Jews praying to their own god, and the magic Jesus would hear that, and would he respond at all, is the question. Would you? I'm thinking that you can't say "yes" because Jesus has not created as moral/caring of followers as people have been lead to believe, but I could be wrong about that.

Yes, many many verses say that this god has NOT given us free will (what an arse!), so you might be right. If so, god/Jesus is even more sinister, more evil, than originally thought.

O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23

And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate.... Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:29-30

For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth. .... For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? ... Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction. Romans 9:11-22

He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Ephesians 1:4-5

God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned. 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. 2 Timothy 1:9

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation. Jude 4

Me knowing the exact % is completely irrelevant(!)....what IS relevant is the fact that religious people can't answer a simple moral question, but Modern Secular Humanists easily can....a clear difference in morality, obviously.

Well if you do not have free will then tell us what Gods plan for you is since you are obviously never allowed to make your own decisions.

    Lol

I didn't say no suffering, as such, in the OP, I'm just saying would you answer the prayers of EXTREME sufferers like the (at that time) up-coming innocent Holocaust victims. If Jesus was moral, he'd help the most innocent, and the most needed (Holocaust Jews fit this description), regardless of whether they worship him or not. Before I give to a local charity I don't ask "whoa, hold on a second, do the recipients worship me and only me - because it's all about me you know"? No, because Modern Secular Humanism is more moral than Jesus, obviously.

And who are you to tell others how extreme their suffering is? Maybe the woman getting beaten everyday by her husband or the young girl getting bullied on the Internet are actually suffering more than some people in the holocaust.

I find that very rude of you
