I think the issue is over-eating or choosing the wrong foods, not just eating... human beings require food to sustain life, it's not something you can give up or basically... you starve to death. By the way, I'm over-weight, so not making any judgments here...
And so...those people only were able to stop when the option presented was stop or die. Overweight people probably have the same reaction when presented with that type of option.
Several months ago was talking to a friend I hadn't heard from in quite awhile. He told me he had put on weight, had to go to the dr for annual check-up and the dr told him to lose the weight..... dr. said 'eat whatever you want, but in moderation, get some exercise, at least a good brisk walk every day and very importantly, DON'T eat after 7 pm and you'll lose"....... the friend did and a month later he lost around 20 #s....... About 10 yrs ago or so, my dr told me my cholesterol was to high and to get it down. I did, avoiding all foods w/cholesterol, but sometimes would eat something w/it and my snacking was only animal crackers and trail-mix (no cholesterol) - around a month later went in to have it checked and my dr said "your cholesterol is now a perfect blend"..... and I was also 23 #s lighter... What really shocked me was around 3 yrs ago had a physical and dr called me later and said .... I was expecting him to say 'cholesterol is to high' but no that was fine - instead 'your potassium is to high and you have to get it back down to 3.5 (it was 6)........ POTASSIUM? Whoever thinks of their potassium? I never gave it a tho't...... He gave me a loooong list of foods to eliminate or to cut way down on. Man, I suffered, but I did it....... I'm back to 'normal'........... Well, if your potassium is dangerously high, it can stop your heart and if your body runs out of potassium, you're dead.... so either way you don't win.
Like I said a bunch of posts back. If you don't think that you are addicted to food, just try doing with out it and see how long before you just have to have it.
If an overweight person is told they will die if they don't lose weight, how many of them head out and have surgery, rather than work it off naturally?
How long should you stick to the diet and exercise before you realise you need medical intervention? Do it for at least a month and you will lose weight. If you can't, there is likely a medical reason as to why not. But stop having surgery. It doesn't make you achieve anything. You can't say 'I lost 50 kilos' because you didn't - surgery made you lose it. Losing weight naturally makes people feel good about themselves. They can see the result of all their hard work and feel pleased that they have done so well.
Why do people end up so fat they can't get out of bed? Is it because they have a medical condition that forces them pile on the pounds, or is it because their own actions got them that way?
Obviously they can't lose weight normally if they are too far to get out of bed, but I take it back to the reason they ended up that fat in the first place.
It doesnt matter if they got fat in the first place, at that point you cant change it now, so you try to figure out how to help them now, then you focus on how to keep other people from makeing the same mistake.
Fair enough - so how do you prevent people from getting so fat? It is not possible to stop people from buying fattening foods, is it?
Fat bombs. Anyone in the USA collecting social security that weighs over 400 pounds will get a parachute and fake identification and flown over countries with large liberal populations (i.e. Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden to start). After a temporary lobotomy, the fatsos will arrive in the destined countries as citizens based upon credentials. China would obviously shoot the fatsos, however, liberal countries might be more tolerant especially with CIA stealth missions. A one time cost of $5,000 for the parachute and false credentials will pay for itself within 3 months based upon average social security distributions for fatsos that are addicted to food.
Education, activity programs, teaching children is a good way to make a change since most adults have already devoleped their mind and personality and its very hard to make a change in an adult mind, unless something drastic happens. There are many ways to produce the wanted results, i just cant think of anymore.
Educating children is a good idea, but what of the conservatives who claim that schools should stay away from that sort of thing, and only parents know what is best for their child - even if the parent is 100 pounds overweight?
People don't over eat in America (for the most part, imo) because they don't know any better. EVERYONE with a working brain in their skull in the West who is not living in denial KNOWS that obesity is unhealthy. People over eat as an escape from life. The same with gambling, drugs, booze, etc.... You have to understand the reason for the desire to flee reality. Not ram down their throats what they already know - that over eating is bad for you. But since you seem to know everything about everything...even things you have never experienced before...I guess what others who have experienced addictions (and quit them) say does not matter to you....huh? Sheesh...
hmm... i think a little nudging in schools would be okay, i mean some schools hire a santa to come visit their children, even if their parents dont believe in christianity. And plus, most parents believe in healthy living, even if they themselfs dont live that way.
Thats called being irresponsible and weak. By natures law, they would be killed because of lack of intelligence and self-control.
Nature, other people, animals, the only reason thats not the case is because we are mostly intelligent and have civilized our species.
I got news for you pal...if humans are going to drop dead every time they do something irresponsible or weak, then you can kiss the human race goodbye in a fortnight (imo).
