That's crazy. That is NOT a 'good cure' and do you have a link that it 'cures' diabetes?

Its not insensitive, its what they should know. Its what they should hear every god (*)(*)(*)(*)ed day. Stop making excuses for them!

Such surgery has even led to death. Some people are too fat to have such operations and it kills them. Plus, the bigger you are, the more risk of complications, so surgery is not the right choice at all.

    Richard Dean Anderson, lol.

That is fear mongering, most people who get surgery lose their food addictions and diabetes and obesity

the only cases made popular are the ones where they die but every health procedure has risks but they are minimal.

either way surgery is going to be the future, the doctors are already saying it will be used on less obese people and not only in severe cases any longer. it will become a routine thing for struggling americans with food addictions and suffering with this dreadful disease. there is hope.

right now only private insurance covers these types of surgeries so the wealthy obese people get this luxury

not sure but hopefully one day the government insurance will cover it too.

Consuming large amounts of sugars, salt refined carbs and fat certainly do create food addiction.

Surgery is best left for the morbidly obese.. I have seen absolute miracles accomplished by people who chose healthy eating instead.

I don't think the food itself is addictive. But I think the behavior of eating it can be. Just like gambling is addictive

There seem to be two components.. the choice of foods and the relationship with food.

This sound reasonible, is there an addiction to food or an addiction to eating? Lets say we have a fat person, and he ate all the food earlier, will he eat a crayon if he finds one?

People pay for it themselves. They got themselves into that situation, they can pay to get themselves out of it.

Addiction is a classification for medical treatment, and that is profit to be made.

We need more fat consumers who are addicted to whatever. That way investors can profit more (not doctors).

EVERYONE is addicted to food. Want proof? Try going without food for a few days. It won't take long for the cravings to kick in.

that is the same reasoning if that is the case, only the wealthy obese get to alleviate themselves from the addictions of eating

the common man cannot fight the temptations of billions of dollars of corporate ads and superior marketing from macdonalds that is why most people are fat

the chains of delicious burgers with addictive cheeses and sauces cannot be broken without help from the government, either they close these establishments or provide the neccessary health care subsidized by the taxpayer. most taxpayers like burgers and are obese so they shouldn't mind subsidizing each other for gastric bypass

that was a painful reminder, don't eat them anymore but if complications came the government would have had to take care of me.

its still hard to fight those cravings though, a daily struggle.

Oh for goodness sake. Stop insisting that people are forced to eat crap! Change the channel, and don't get up and drive to the store and buy cheeseburgers! Its called willpower!

And what is the basis of willpower?

Why does one person seem to have 'it' while another does not?

Everything human is a series of addictions. We are chemically based, and every single impulse your brains transmits causes a chemical reaction to happen within you, me, everybody.

    You are missing the point.

How does one acquire those traits?

How does one person develop willpower and another not as much?

Parents, or they could teach themselfs, it all depends on self control, how come a normal person doesnt eat all of the oreos in the bag at once, but a fat person doesnt just eat one, no, they eat three bags of oreos! Why is that huh? HUH???? WE ARE RUNNIG OUT OF OREOS, JUST LIKE THE TWINKIES. Blah.
