they spend alot of time looking for jobs as well as filling out long beauracracy paper work for food stamps etc... but that post was also refering to others who work many hours as many americans do
As it's been said on the news repeatedly, many have given up trying to find a job. People don't spend all day, every day filling out forms and you only fill out the forums once for food stamps, medical and/or cash assistance, then submit the papers to the office..... or you can even mail them in. I just tho't of something A person can sit down at their table and fill out the forums while their dinner is cooking.... what a novel idea, doncha think? People who have full-time jobs also prepare home-cooked meals. You just have to learn how to manage your time.... not hard to do at all.
Ahhh, I see. Suddenly the topic switches to 'panhandlers' making $80,000 in NY..... whatever. It's just plain dumb to take what $ you have, if you're indigent, and blow it in restaurants/fast food places when you can take that same $, go to the store and buy the foods to make meals in your kitchen...... And now, I guess, some junk food places, like McD, BK will accept the EBT card.... oh well. We're beaten this dead horse to death b/f and I'm not in the mood to do it again.......
Perhaps a fat person would be able to answer this question. the best part is if doctors can make it a medical problem/illness, the medical industry can make a lot of money off it. Capitalism is a great way to profit off the fat.
QUOTE] No its not, its takes more money to make a homemade meal, so if you have money problems, then its a lot cheaper to do restaurant or fast food meals.[/QUOTE] I don't know what part of the planet you live on Thinker but cooking at home is much cheaper unless you count getting a dollar burger at McD.. I can cook a healthy, yummy meal for 4 with 5 bucks.. Mexicans have us beat..beans, rice, tortillas, and cheap pork shoulder you can feed a family for a week on 25 bucks..
I think sugar, especially, can be addictive to a significant portion of the population, seriously affecting the lives of 3-10%. Some people are more psychologically, emotionally, and metabolically susceptible to food addiction. Women are at higher risk.

If I give you a few $, would you throw a tomato & avacado in that dinner?
Yeah, but if you've just come home from a 10 hour day, the last thing you want to do is spend time chopping vegies and cooking. All you want to do is sit down and relax!
White sugar is one of the worst things you can eat. If I have to sweeten something, I use honey - the real stuff that I buy at the farmers market, not the store stuff. Oatmeal w/a little honey, cinnamon & milk is delicious......
Mak, for yrs I worked full-time, had 3 kids and a man to feed. You learn to fit meals in the day - part of life. For one thing, I did a lot of the preparation the nite before, like while I was watching a tv show, I'd be peeling potatoes or whatever for the dinner the next night, so when I got home from work, the meal went quicker. One meal everyone liked was a pot roast - so simple! The night before I prepared it, set the roaster in frig, the next am I put it int he oven, set temp at 225 at 7:30 in the am b/f I went out the door, got home at 5:30 and it was ready to eat. On w/e's I'd cook up a big kettle of spaghetti, chili, casserole, etc - there was a lot left over after dinner and I'd divvy it up and make our own tv dinners for the freezer - same w/left over pot roast...... same w/veggie stew, casserole dishes, etc...... There were always home-made tv dinners in my freezer. I hate those store bought tv dinners. They're crap loaded w/chemicals, additives & perservatives... no way was I going to feed that (*)(*)(*)(*) to my kids. There are dozens of recipes that's easy enuf to make and freeze. The one dinner I couldn't get in the freezer was my manicotti b/c Tom & kids would snarf down every bite thru out the evening. So, making those tv dinners myself helped me out where sometimes I could tell the kids to get a meal out of the freezer b/c that nite was Mom's nite out - I was going to relax in a restaurant and would drag Tom out of the door to feed me....hey! it worked for me! lol...........
ABSOLUTELY! It's very good and both the tea & honey is healthy.. Honey & cinnamon are 2 very healthy foods.... but buy the better brand - not the cheapy stuff.......
Well, that's your opinion, but I've compared the cost of eating out to what I can buy in the grocery store w/that $ and make a better meal at home and have left overs from it...... The one thing that works for me when I eat out in a decent restaurant is when I order a favorite like shrimp alfredo fettucinni is I'll order the largest plate which would be around $10-12. I can't eat a lot in one sitting b/c I fill up fast, so by the time I eat the salad & some garlic bread, by the time I get the dinner, which is a LOT, I'm pretty full. I'll eat a small portion of the dinner, then take it home and I'll have around 3 more meals out of.... We have a teriyaki restaurant that has delicious food and they give you a lot. I pay $8 dollars for a 2-go order and there's 4 meals in it for me every time.......$2 per serving - works for me! But to go to the BK or McD and pay what? Never go there, so I'm guessing around $10 for a greasy burger and greasy fries that would give me a belly ache and nitemares? Forget it.......
a good cure for food addiction is gastric bypass, it basically cures diabetes right after the surgery and helps to reduce cravings drastically. the doctors are starting to recommend for those who are just 100lbs overweight, you don't have to be morbidly obese any longer. hopefully they accept medicaid.
An even better cure is for people to get off their fat arses and do some bloody exercise instead of undergoing major surgery to lose the weight they could have lost naturally if only they put down the fork and stopped eating and drinking (*)(*)(*)(*).
that is very insensitive to sufferers with this food addiction disease especially in the US where it is most prevalent, but noted.
