    So self control is taught?

So in your opinion, the main reason people over eat is because they have not learned self control?

It's nothing to do with emotional well being, feeling of self worth, desperation, emotional denial, etc....?

Self-control is taught, along with discipline, and eating too much does have something to do with emotional well being, but once again can be controlled to self control, you can eat but why eat beyond fullness, and if you ate alot why not exercise after?

So you call a 'passion' for Oreos a flat out addiction?

Did eating these Oreos make you substantially overweight?

Im not overweight, what are you talking about? And that is what a addiction is, a "passion". Can you say a crackhead is addicted to crack, without the obsession and passion they give to getting more crack?

No, this is what an addiction is:

    'ad·dic·tion   [uh-dik-shuhn] Show IPA
    noun
the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.'

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/addiction

So you will experience 'severe trauma' if you cannot eat an Oreo?

And btw - I was a crackhead (I quit years ago) - so I know what it is about.

So you do not know what a technical addiction is like then?

And I care that I was a crackhead.

You have no idea what you're talking about. "Self-control" that comes from a teacher isn't self-control at all, it's teacher control. For the addict, real self-control begins with the internal God-given realization that one is out of control, and nowhere else.

Even if you did - which you clearly did not in the post I replied to - it still makes no sense, because self-control develops through exercise, not learning. You might as well say you can teach your biceps to lift more weight.

Some people have more of an 'addictive' personality than others......

And it all depends upon the person and how they look at themselves and what they want out of life......

It's called choices and it's all up to you.... but if you need professional help, then get it............

addiction is psychological enslavement, the corporations hold the chains and shackles its not so easy to overcome macdonalds , its just not.

they get you FIRST with the caffiene (<- proven drug) in the soft drink, the addictive ingredients in cheese, the grease in the meat which stimulates harmones in the brain, the fry batter same thing then the sweets the apple pies, shakes, all have sugar which is like a drug.

its very hard to break the cycle of eating foods like this everyday.

Yes but you dont understand apparently, you can control whether you go back to get five more 3rd pounder. Its bull that you cant control yourself from going and eating everything in a chinese buffet or in a house, then eating grass just to eat it.

    Oh balderdash...

Its all about portion control and choices.

If you eat carbs, sugar, fat and salt you will crave MORE carbs, fat, sugar and salt every 30 minutes after you have just eaten.

Take a course in advanced nutrition.. You can do so on line.
