They should have gone after Trump as well. He was also promoting this "story" and spread the same lie that upended their lives over a ****ing piece of candy.

The reality is Giuliani is much worse than he was made out to be.

    7m ago12.18 EST

The defense has began its closing arguments.

'Joseph Sibley, Rudy Giuliani’s lawyer, told the court that the plaintiffs’ are asking “to aware a catastrophic amount of damages against my client.”

“When you see my client’s state of mind, you’re going to say, you should have been better but weren’t as bad as the plaintiffs make you out to be,” he said.

It's said that "you get what you pay for"
It's obvious Sibley isn't getting paid much if at all. lol

    Brandi Buchman
    @Brandi_Buchman

Sibley brings up the stipulation where Giuliani admitted he defamed the women, but disputed the extent of damages. This is an example of his willingness to cooperate, Sibley argues. "He showed up. its not like he completely didnt participate in the litigation"

Every time Sibley opens his mouth Freeman and Moss get an extra million.
Giuliani knew damn well about the vile racist and violent threats they were getting, it was all over the news and he did NOT stop his defamation tour on TV , interviews and before political hearings.
He never told people to stop their horrific attacks on these 2 women.
    Sound familiar?

    10m ago12.44 EST

'Speaking about Rudy Giuliani, his lawyer Joseph Sibley said, “If he actually encouraged violence against these women, one would hope he would be in jail but that’s not what he did,” Law & Crime’s Brandi Buchman reports.'

    Replying to @Brandi_Buchman
The racist/violent vitriol does not "naturally flow" from Giuliani, Sibley argues, but from others. (this goes toward the debate in jury instructions earlier about the phrase "reasonably forseeable vs naturally flow)

Defense ends closing arguments with Giuliani's lawyer telling jurors he's a 'good man'
    Daniel Barnes and Dareh Gregorian

Sibley ended his closing argument by insisting his client is "a good man."

He noted how Giuliani was a unifying figure after the 9/11 terror attacks, and the work he did to take down the mob while he was the U.S. attorney in New York.

“Rudy Giuliani is a good man,” Sibley said, pleading with the jury to keep that in mind during their deliberations.

“I know that some of you may not think that and he hasn’t exactly helped himself with some of the things that have happened in the last few days,” Sibley conceded in his remarks, which lasted about a half hour.

Gottlieb, Freeman and Moss' lawyer, is now delivering a brief rebuttal argument.'

    How to defend the indefensible:

    SNIP
"Rudy Giuliani is a good man," Sibley told the jurors. "I know some of you may not think that, and he hasn't exactly helped himself with some of the things that happened in the last few days."

"I know he's done things that are wrong," Sibley said. "I know these women have been harmed. I'm not asking for a hall pass for that."
    ENDSNIP

Ususally, there's a "but" coming after all that.....

Can't wait to hear Giuliani tell us about the "surprises" he claimed to have had that he never delivered during the trial.
No can do there he said. lol
He'll be on his radio spewing lies about the election and his fans will suck them up.
Will he wait until after the jury's verdict?
Probably not cause he needs to hear himself talk to keep convincing himself he's not royally ****ed across the board and broke.
Will he pull a Trumper and end up getting sued again for defamation by the same women he just lost a defamation case to and owes millions?
    Most likely.

“Rudy Giuliani used his power to scapegoat Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss,” Gottlieb said. “He didn’t see them as human beings.”

Gottlieb’s comments came after Giuliani’s lawyer announced the former New York City mayor would not testify, a reversal after signaling all week that he would take the stand.

“We feel like these women have been through enough,” Joseph Sibley, Giuliani’s attorney told the jury in his closing statement.

Gottlieb referenced that decision to the jury in his statement.

“Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, it turns out are miles and miles away from ordinary. They are heroes. After everything they went through, they stood up and they said no more,” he said. “They opened themselves up to you and the public, and unlike some other people, they testified here under oath.”

Yeah, until somebody shows me video/audio of Trump saying their actual names out of his piehole, I think he's safe from defamation here...

The Raffensperger call doesn't count, since it wasn't made publicly...

    Jury deliberations begin
    Daniel Barnes and Dareh Gregorian

Judge Howell has finished instructing the jury, who are now beginning deliberations.

Moss and Freeman's lawyer urged the jurors to award his clients at least $24 million each. Giuliani's attorney suggested the amount should be much less.

    Deliberations started at 1:35 E.T.

Sure as P01135809 has been indicted indicted on 91 felony charges and been impeached twice, if this was about (P01135809),tRUMP, this would have as many excuses and rebuttals as their are post against Giuliani.
Let's you know how deep into the cult P01135809 exist.

    Donald J. Trump

    @realDonaldTrump

Don’t forget that Ruby Freeman, her daughter, and all others were rushed out of the voter count room in Georgia because of a big “WATER MAIN BREAK.” Like everything else, it was FAKE, there was no water main break. Ruby’s group (only) soon came back into the room, with no security or vote watchers, grabbed the thousands and thousands of ballots hidden under a cloth skirted table, and began putting them into (STUFFING) the machines, all caught on tape, and so OBVIOUSLY WRONG. They can’t explain!

Trump’s renewed attack on Ruby Freeman is revealing. Here's why.
His revival of baseless claims against the former Georgia election worker could signal legal news — and might hurt his wallet, too.

Trump not quite done with his new offensive against Ruby Freeman
Donald Trump seems awfully eager to pick a new fight with Ruby Freeman. Don’t be too surprised if the Georgian and her attorneys decide to fight back.

I understand Judge Howell's final instructions were - "Go large or go home"

Dunno if that's good news or bad news for Rudy?

Good for Judge Howell articulating to the jury that Giuliani withheld his financial statements and documents.
He thought being "America's Mayor" (lol) and all that he could play everyone, including the judge.

    7 PM EST
    Jury deliberations underway

'Judge Beryl Howell read from a lengthy jury instruction form that reminded jurors that their sole responsibility is to quantify the damages Rudy Giuliani will have to pay to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss for defaming them.

The judge emphasized that the court has already determined Giuliani's statements to be defamatory and untrue.

She told jurors that, in assessing the full scope of damages, they must assume that Giuliani withheld financial records and other documents that Freeman and Moss were entitled to access during the discovery process.'

Well, at least today, he did not get on the stand and further defame the Freemans, at the very least, that's a positive. These people (Rudy, Trump et al) have no shame and believe they can end run around the law while hiding behind "politics". God help America if they get away with in in the end.

Yea right....Sibley said Giuliani isn't testifing today because the woman have been through enough.

Guiliani said when leaving court today to tune in at 8pm.
That's his pathetic radio show so it remains to be seen if he's actually going to continue to spew his lies about the women?
Maybe he'll do his Hunter and Joe routine and somehow connect them to his trial? lol

I don't really follow these cases but I saw a clip on Youtube where Giuliani was saying all his claims were true and he was about to reveal the evidence. I really do not understand this group of people, is it a boomer thing? Did people from the good old days not have to deliver on promises. Giuliani, Trump and Lindell all make these grandiose claims that they would show the evidence and then everything would be clear and then nothing. The problem is they don't even bat an eye at failing on the promises. There is no apology. The rest of us live in a world where there are consequences on missing deliverables. Whether it is missing a deadline at work or just failing a promise to a child there are consequences.
