There are TWO creation stories cobbled together during the reign of King Omri.. Israel had a story and Judah had a story.

But you don't accept the Bible because the way you have the story seems to defy science, but scripture really doesn't.
Medieval people, who knew no science, explained the Bible in their own times, and they were wrong.

And that is the key point.

WE probably do not understand enough yet to debunk anything in the Bible. God may be explaining things he did that are so far scientifically advanced that we are still centuries away from discovering them.

Trying to say the Bible is wrong based on our pitiful understanding of the universe today is foolish.

    LOL

I have shown you this recent book which names all the 22 species that Paleontologists list for us.
These science guys were not even aware that Genesis lists the 22 name of people who we evolved from ourselves.
The two lists match very well.

...22 species and 22 names in Genesis genealogy!

That is right, you cannot define consciousness, but you can define the material universe. God cannot be defined either.....so that places consciousness with a big C in that same class. The fact is probably that big C consciousness is god, and the material universe manifests from it.

Of course the trouble with man is not only does he insist on defining god as if it is matter, but he wants to create with imagination its attributes, with some of these images being rather childish, you know, in the image of a king with subject that must kneel before him, as an angry god, as a jealous god, as one who will smite his creation when they (*)(*)(*)(*) him off. It is so childish, yet grown men will do that, and not only will they defend the images their brains have created, but they will defend it using violence.

Our consciousness is as experienced, is mostly thought, body sensation and emotions, which are triggered by thought. That is ordinary human consciousness. That is the consciousness all of us experience. But that isn't big C consciousness. Big C consciousness is the state of mind, the state of consciousness, when thought is not operating, when thought is completely silent, and the sense of the self is not there. Not some vacant inactivity, but beyond vacant activity and thought consciousness. That fragment is a fragment of big C consciousness, which is manifesting the material universe, and which is not of time at all. Therefore eternal and is the consciousness that isn't inside the brain, the brain is a transceiver for it. Now, you can call this god, or something else, for it really doesn't mean anything in what you call it. For it is beyond petty thought processes, even as I am using thought to try to point to it. For there is no other way to point except by thought. But thought can never really touch it. Sounds like what a genune god would appear like to me, instead of some childish image, that fashions god in the image of man.

Now this big C consciousness is what quite a few physicists, see evidence for in quantum mechanics. And that gives it some credence, and much more credence than the image religions have created using the human brain of god, which always comes across as not quite believable, or credible. That looks more like some fairy tale bedtime story for children.

    Why???
    God, the almighty, is Reality.

As Reality unfolds, it create Truth, i.e.; the Christ who appeared personified in 32AD.
Truth is the son-of Reality, and one is the image of the other.
And the Truth does set us free, as Rev Martin Luther King demonstrated for Civil Rights.

Fine, but as we read the Bible we can see that the book is actually 100% correct.
This is an amazing thing to read today, when we really know so much about what happened.

Thanks. I'm actually not up to date on the science of how old the universe is - I use to follow it, but then realized how much of it was estimation and how little certainty there was, and so I gave up. My only point was that the first 'day' in Genesis isn't a 24hr period like some people like to suggest - it is quite obviously not a 24hr period.

Interesting, I'm open to reading into it. Could you provide some sources on this matter?

we do not know that, heck maybe aliens created our species, unless your suggesting that the aliens are the God(s) religious texts speak of....

Gen1 reports one story, about God creating th universe.
In Gen 2, that story is repeated as if Adam was telling the story, as he understood it.

Adam tells us that he existed and God then brought all the animals together, so Adam could name them.
But we know from Gen 1, that Adam was the last animal created, and the others were created before him.

But you must find it very difficult to deny that Reality continues to unfold, under the aw of Probability, and our existence depends upon adapting to it, or becoming Extinct.
To Reality, we MUST bow down, no matter how hard you may try to avoid that.

Or God could have used an already pre-existing species to create us....it is still his will being done.

Lets say that we are not interested in debunking god or the bible
We are interested in what the perponderance of evidence indicates.
And are unwilling to disregard evidence based upon any individual interpretation of the bible. And let us agree that different people have different views a on the precise meaning of the bible on this issue. So if i disagree with an individual interlretation. I a not debunking god or the bible. Just one fallible human view of these issues

I think in the beginning of the religion they thought God could do that in one of our 24 hour days, but in modern times I think that view has changed

What you are doing is trying to rationalize the fact that science actually disproves genesis. You then make (*)(*)(*)(*) up and say see, science proves genesis.

    Why what?
The God of Abraham is one of many man made stories ancient civilizations created in an attempt to explain their surroundings.

    this is vague meaningless nonsense.

    - - - Updated - - -

How can you type this with a straight face? 2 very simple things are incorrect. There was no world wide flood, and the earth was not created in 7 days 6000 years ago.

And what we know happened directly refutes what your bible says happened.

I believe the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

IMO the basic building blocks of matter fit together way too conveniently to consider their design totally accidental. It would be like saying something made of Legos had no initial creator.

Evolution, however, seems to be an experimental process in which what works is kept and what isn't is discarded.

This would be part of the magically shrinking god.

At first, all things are ascribed to him.

Then, as mankind looks around and figures things out, god shrinks.

But, there is still plenty of room for god, because there are plenty of questions we haven't yet answered.

The real richness of the Adam story comes to us as allegory, not as physics class. Physics has nothing like the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The real question is why modern Christians are so focused on seeing the Bible as some sort of vague description of actual events when it blossoms once one decides the bible is about ... religion!

right, but that was not what you said, you said matter of factually "All we do know is that God DID create the human species", I was just saying we do not know that to be true.... many believe that, but it's very far from fact....

www.tfd.com/fact definition 2.c. fact: something believed to be true or real.

Hmmmm... seems to me that those who believe and make an expression of that belief are expressing a "fact".

But that could also be I.D. The design of body parts in many animals are pretty much the same across the board, as if this leg joint works well for the bear, I'll use a similar joint for the dog and cat. Same for eyes etc.
In that list of 22 human species includes the recently discovered little people nicknamed the Hobbit.
