You should be directing that question to the White House or your elected representative. As a last resort, consult your doctor's office.

My understanding is it's not as deadly as what we call the common flu. The problem is that we have a method of fighting the common flu and that's the flu shot you take every year. There is no anti-biotic (medicine) for the Coronoavirus. Therefore we aren't able to provide any kind of immunity from the disease.

The plain old flu in the 2018/2019 flu season killed 80,000 compared to Corona's 3,400 world wide.

Yet schools are closing, their students to take classes online. My wife was to be at an expo in April. Canceled. I just don't think I've ever seen a reaction like this before. Not HPV1, not swine. Nothing. What explains it?

You're right, what does explain this?

The main things from what I am gathering is that they aren't certain of how it spreads, or why it seems to affect primarily the elderly. We don't have a lot of answers, so who should be providing the answers....the government. But with each passing day, with each passing news conference, all we see is a further distrust of the White House every time Trump steps in it and lies or tries to make this about his re-election prospects. That is it, that is all he cares about!

There seems to be no consensus on exactly how easy it is to transmit this virus as opposed to others. Some seem to believe this virus is much more communicable.

Maybe the answers aren't there yet. Without the answers at hand, any response besides downplaying and optimism would lead to uncertainty and fear which in turn leads to panic...

    Politics.
Nevertheless, moving the schools online and into smaller venues would be a good thing.
Funneling children into an obsolete failed education bureaucratic monstrosity where they are easy targets for disease and terrorists is pure folly.

The answers may have been there had Trump not disbanded the special team Obama had initiated for these kind of pandemics. The WH response sure seems indicative of them having to catch up for not having this in place.

That's pure nonsense speculation. If Trump was handling this poorly the US would look like Italy...

The Democrats will stop at nothing to hurt the economy, it's why it's on their propaganda media 24/7. Joe Biden will never be President.

That's utterly preposterous. Italy is far smaller a nation than the United States.

Exactly, if Trump screwed this up America would be a disaster right now. That aside, you folks have no problem using small countries for comparison if it favors your arguments. That argument doesn't cut it...

No, it would be the exact opposite.

    See: https://www.statista.com/chart/20629/ability-to-respond-to-an-epidemic-or-pandemic/

It would take longer for us to reach the same state that Italy finds itself in at the moment.

Of course, you think this is just a partisan excuse which is why I include a link, knowing damn well you will dismiss it. You want to make a comparison? Then compare to another country of equal size and level of preparedness.

Did you even read your own link? The US had the highest preparedness, what more do you want? Trump didn't bungle this. Like Hillary's defeat, sooner or later you have to accept reality...

    - It's got a mortality rate of about 1-3%, depending on how many undetected cases there are. That's 10-30x worse than flu (.1% mortality rate)
    - It's a cold virus (not a flu virus), and it's about 30% more contagious than flu (again, depending on how many undetected cases there are)
    - It hits 15% of people who get it hard enough to need Oxygen, and 6% who get it end up in ICU (again, depending on how many undetected cases there are).
    - It seems almost designed to spare kids and kill off sick old people.

If you want to see this thing in action, just read about what's going on in Italy right now. It's a mess. They haven't been in this bad of shape since WW2. And here's some cheery news from Trump's old Homeland Security Adviser:
"“We are 10 days from the hospitals getting creamed.”"
    https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump...days-away-from-our-hospitals-getting-creamed/

    So yeah, it's pretty bad.

If the exact same level of infections and deaths were occurring under Obama, the cronovirus would be a small five second factoid at the end of some TV and cable news shows, maybe.

Why the white house.. Is that were you'd go? I'd be at the very least asking the CDC or my local health facilities.. Pretty well explain some of the deaths from the virus, stupid people contacting the wrong places when they are symptomatic LMFAO :)

3.4% Mortality Rate estimate by the World Health Organization (WHO) as of March 3
In his opening remarks at the March 3 media briefing on Covid-19, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated:
“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.”

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-death-rate/#who-03-03-20

    S. Korea has seen a mortality rate of around 1%. Italy's is around 4% (I believe). We won't know the true rate for awhile. It's either much much deadlier than the flu and kind of hard to catch, or it's much deadlier than the flu and kind of easy to catch, or it's deadlier than the flu and really easy to catch.

With the data we have now, those are really the only possibilities. It's not going to turn out that this is like the flu.

Really? The media would ignore a nursing home being decimated? Stock market dropping 2,000 points? Cruise ships in quarantine? Who are you trying to kid? If it bleeds it leads, no matter who's in charge.

This thing is bad. It's not just me telling you this. It's Tucker Carlson and Trump's former HSA. Are they leftist partisan hacks? No, they're not.

The projection from the rogan guest today is saying around half a mil.

He has also been advising people in this admin.

He said this virus will be 10 to 15 times worse than the flu.

Not even comparable to the flu.
