Ah, but you've just admitted that you don't think you are self-sufficient. You think you think are dependent on an aggressive imperial state apparatus murdering people all around the globe to make you wealthy. A warfare-state welfare queen in other words.

I did that in Iraq in 2004. We didn't have air conditioners (that worked). It sucked but it was survivable.

If you've ever seen the generators that they use to run US bases and (more importantly) the amount of gas they consume, you'd understand how cutting back on power requirements could save a lot of money.

You forget.. I spent 20 years in Arabia.. Shamals and high temperatures.

The cost of AC is a cost of war.. just like food and water and medical care.

I think Ron Paul is a nincompoop.

And Ron Paul and every person with an ounce of sense wants the wars to end, as you well know.

Does Ron Paul actually know why we went to Afghanistan?

I oppose the war as well.. as I think there are a dozen other ways to accomplish or goals.. but denying the troops AC in the interim.. is cheesy.

It depends what one wants to hear and how one wants to understand what is being said, unless one purposely wishes to twist the truth until its unrecognizable.

Oh does he...want to deny AC, really?
How many here who horde in to rip Paul a new one actually heard what he said, instead of just repeating OP's opinion on the facts?

Hhaha ... this is rich.. you think your part of the elite... thats the reason simpletons like you are so easily manipulated.. you THINK you are included in the hunters group... your part of the hunt my little misguided aggressive sheep... but your on the menu .. just like 98% of America.

You know.. I am married , I file jointly and I am in the 33% tax bracket. I am not rich. I am already set for retirement and I am in my mid 40's. I have not been "ruthless" and I have not knowledgeably victimized anybody in my professional life. The media machine would have me beieve that I have "made" it and I should support the elite so that I defend my gains in life.. I would be an idiot to believe that. People like you are the problem in the world. You are a greedy self-deluded monster with a great sense of self rightousness and entitlement. I have taught my children compassion for the weak and intolerance of people like you.. as I believe is right.

Weaklings like you preach your bravado in a controlled environment while the REAL MEN bleed to provide your soft ass with the environment to flourish. Its a travesty that the quality people die at the end of a gun in war while useless grubbers like you survive and bredd your principles to yet another generation of useless materialists.

Which, of course, is not what he's talking about, as you know, if you know anything at all about his views. He's talking about bringing the troops home, period.

And people who realize that any of the other candidates will continue expanding the American police state.

So, you have nothing worthwhile to say, then. Thanks for the disclaimer.

Yes, I'm a "heavy spender" for not wanting to ride around on an aluminum bicycle. Keep living in your dream world.

Public transit should be made the norm, when it comes to traversing long distances. Every person owning their own individual big huge gas guzzling machine is simply NOT efficient whatsoever. Things like that are bankrupting this country.

So, in other words, give up your own mobility and freedom.

Gas guzzling trucks are not what is bankrupting this country. Are you crazy? If you are worried about the debt, focus on the unsustainable entitlement programs we have in this country, which will consume 100% of GDP within the next 20 years.

Insult me all you want, but my objective, cold view of the world is probably more correct than your heated, frothing at the mouth delusions. There is a great Hobbesian Leviathan that quietly ensures your quality of life, and part of that leviathan is the US military and those men know what they are getting into.

I have great honor and respect for what they do for me. I know my entire quality of life rests on their shoulders, and not to many would be offended if I said that they give their lives so that I can maintain a high quality of life and freedom and thank you.

If you ask an American soldier that if he did or didn't go to war would mean the difference between poverty and prosperity for millions of Americans? He'd say he'd die to prevent that I think.

Irrelevant... you are not part of the elite that you include yourself in. You are a victim as much as anybody else .. well off or poor in the U.S.

I went to war. If I was given the truth and a choice on if I wanted blood on my hands so that you could have cheaper gas... and you were egging me on to go risk my life to secure your spoils.. I would be hard pressed about where I was going to point my weapon.

Seems ironic that you see my post as "frothing at the mouth" when it is you that is perfectly ok with murder and theft so long as you can have your standard of living at its highest possible level. Big screen plasma and fourwheel drive mall cruiser at the expense of the lives of soldiers and innocents... or a 32 inch T.V and a compact 2 wheel drive truck with no murder or theft...... You take the Big screen and the 4x4 .. because your "entitled". Your hypocrisy, greed and arrogance is why americans are despised all over the world. We arent all like that.

You can picture yourself to be cold and calculating all you want.. you have no skin in the game... a warrior is cold and calculating... you are a parasite who simply feeds off the spoils of violence.. like a hyena. Your are not cold and calculating ... you are conniving and opportunistic... there is a huge difference..

Well I'm in good company because apparently I'm in the mainstream which is good enough for me.

If you want to pursue policies that would force Americans to live like barbarians then that's your issue.

The problem I see with Ron Paul is that he assumes his audience is capable of thinking at his level, which they are often not, as evident by the conclusions quoted above. If Ron Paul would "dumb down" or more simply present his message, he might do better to get his points across. Unfortunately, during a debate or a short news clip there is only so much time allowed.

Example, the quote about the air conditioners above takes Ron's statement literally and the listener misinterpreted what he meant. The deeper concept was totally missed of bringing our troops home so that we stop wasting millions of dollars air conditioning the desert.

Before criticizing Ron Paul, a person needs to think deeper to fully grasp what he is saying.

No, we know what he means, we also know that leaving these nations to fall into anarchy is totally inimical to the National Security of the United States of America.

We cannot allow Afghanistan or Iraq to return to a Pre-9/11 condition. That is unacceptably dangerous for America and anyone who denies it is simply expressing Chamberlain type appeasement fantasies.
