I just don't see it as a political issue. It's more a sportsmanship issue, to me. But if anybody supports it for political reasons... there is, of course, extremism on the left too.

With a caveat: I don't know all the arguments that lead to this. But protecting the rights of transgender people is not enough for me in this case.

 

The human anatomy doesn't allow the choice to become a horse, or a dog, or some beast. Barring some freak mutation or rare genetic disorder. So, the outcome is typically male or female, but you know that already.

This person has probably been taking hormone treatment because the article said that her hormone levels were within the legal range for a woman to participate in the sport. Not too high and not too low.

Women don't produce less testosterone. They merely convert it to estrogen at a higher rate than men. Men also produce estrogen but at a lower rate than women. But this person was living with a woman's hormone levels for a while.

Anyway take that how you will, but nature is rarely fair and people come in a range of benefits and shortcomings.

 

Right, which is why we separate women's sports, bathrooms, prisons, etc.

The bone density and muscle differentiation has already been built. The advantage is already there. You don't seem to know how this works.

Ah well. Another sporting event for me to boycott. I used to love watching sporting competition. They have ruined it for me.

 

Men are stronger and faster than women. Simple biology. Being dissatisfied with one's gender and wishing it were the other gender doesn't change that. The entire issue is ridiculous. I'm happy being a man even though I can't hit a baseball like Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron - two other men content with their gender. My approach, however, isn't to prey on weaker baseball hitters than me. My approach is to do something for which I have more ability. The concept of allowing men to compete against women in sports is very unfair to women.

 

I will admit, when a teenage girl wanted to play football with the boys, I supported it as there was no girls team

but I also admit things have gone too far, and the rules do need to be changed to even the playing field

 

we just have to admit in some areas of society we do not want equal rights, that is hard to do after fighting so hard for them

Already researched this issue in the other transgender sports threads.

It boils down to whichever puberty a trans person went through originally.

For those fortunate enough to have been able to DELAY puberty until they were 18 then they should be able to compete on an EQUAL level with whichever gender they chose because there cannot be any advantage based upon having the IDENTICAL hormones during puberty.

For those that were unfortunate to transition AFTER puberty then FtM's are at a disadvantage while MtF's do have an advantage.

What is DISINGENUOUS about the red meat OP is that they ONLY ever make a fuss about MtF trans athletes while IGNORING the disadvantages that FtM trans athletes are dealing with.

 

If true, clearly the Olympic committee needs to make some changes to not allow this to continue to happen.

The rules are simple. Born a boy, play sports with boys or do something other than sports.

 

Why is this even a discussion. Would you put poodles in a greyhound race? Would a 100 lb man who identifies as huge be able to do sumo wrestling? It’s totally ridiculous. Just make divisions for trans men and one for trans woman as well and be done with this nonsense

 

It should be simple...biological males play on men's teams and biological females play on women's teams. Period.

 

How about this, we just have teams. Doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, best players make the team. Turns out I probably won’t qualify for any of them but you won’t hear me bitchin about it.

 

The IOC used to take cheating seriously. Now, because of political correctness, they may now have to give all the medals they stripped from soviet bloc nations back because one new zealander thinks it would be nice to hold all the women's weight lifting medals because he decided that he was a woman.

Are all senior citizen men whose testosterone levels are falling turning into women? That is the PHYSICAL requirement for the IOC. So do we become women when we hit that level?

Because it is not possible for the United States to pass a law that tells the New Zealand Olympic team what to do as we are not New Zealanders.
