So men who can't compete with the top male athletes now get go compete against the women?

Of why have sperate men's and women's event now. Why not just one big event?

Tokyo Olympics: Kiwi weightlifter Laurel Hubbard to become first transgender athlete to compete at the Games

Kiwi weightlifter Laurel Hubbard will make history at the Tokyo Olympics by becoming the first transgender athlete to compete at the Games.

Hubbard has been named among five weightlifting athletes selected to the New Zealand Team.

Hubbard, who won silver at the 2017 world championships and represented New Zealand at the 2018 Commonwealth Games before suffering a serious injury in competition, will likely become the first transgender athlete to compete at the Olympics.

If she transitioned more than a year ago, then hormone therapy has eliminated any advantage she may have had prior to the transition. Good for her bouncing back from injury and persevering.

Would you care to provide some scientific basis for your claim, e.g., bone structure of a man provides no advantages in leverage or bone density?

Most trans women have lower bone density to begin with.

Your basis for this claim and the previous claim? Do you have a study or studies that support this? You seem to be claiming that weight lifting is all about post puberty testosterone levels and not bone density or structure. Things like the volume of blood pumped per heart contraction, etc. would seem to define an advantage to men not related to testosterone levels.

Here is the position of USA Powerlifting:

the participation of male to female competitors. Through analysis the impact of maturation in the presence naturally occurring androgens as the level necessary for male development, significant advantages are had, including but not limited to increased body and muscle mass, bone density, bone structure, and connective tissue. These advantages are not eliminated by reduction of serum androgens such as testosterone yielding a potential advantage in strength sports such as powerlifting.

Is your plan for this thread to just throw out falsehoods without any attempt to support them and hope something sticks?

I look forward to this husky guy just absolutely destroying the women on the stage and setting an Olympic record on every lift that no actual woman will ever hit again.

You might be right. But just wait till this dude gets up there:

    https://www.aol.com/article/news/20...regory-smashes-womens-world-records/23720231/

Mary Gregory, an American powerlifter and strength coach, took to Instagram on Sunday to announce she had gone "9 for 9" at the competition and broken four women's world records: Masters world squat record, open world bench record, Masters world deadlift record and Masters world total record.

Emphatically wrong. Just because her testosterone might be on par with a women today does not mean that the amount of testosterone she had through the majority of her life gave her muscle mass and bone density of a man, giving her an empirical advantage.

I'm hoping someone can help me out a little bit. There are 7.9 billion people on the planet with half of them being women. A microscopically small fraction of men who think they're women win or even dominate women's sports at a rate that far exceeds what anyone would logically and statistically expect. Can someone explain why?

If having a sex change turns a man into a super athlete in women's sports, then why aren't the woman who think they're men winning in men's sports at the same rate?

On a side note, male inmates who think they're women can now request being assigned to a prison for women. How many women who think they're men ask to be assigned to a men's prison?

On an even bigger side note, when you take into account the counseling, medications, psychologists, psychiatrists, surgeons, hospital stays, etc, how much money is Big Transgender taking in?

If you could provide the stats showing the rate at which they win it would be helpful to determine why

So as an aside, how do our kiwi friends feel about this? You folks proud to have a transgender male representing YOU while he’s beating a bunch of women?

Well, laws are being passed to prevent men from competing in women's sports due to the inherent unfairness, and then there are the lawsuits that were filed by women because allowing men to compete against women is inherently unfair. But here are some links.

Thanks for the links. The second one is useless since it considers this to be an issue of Immorality.

As for laws being passed, they are being passed by basically the same people passing laws to stop fraud that does not exist, so that is really not all that helpful.

What I cannot seem to find is data on how many transgender athletes there are. Are the ones winning the only ones, or are there many others that suck so you never hear about them?

But I have to admit I have not really dug that deep, but it has me intrigued so I will see what I can find

I recently saw that about .05% of the population identified as a T, and probably a lot of them don’t go through with the full sex swap. Out of that number, how many of them decide to go into competitive sports for women? Probably very few. Yet they seem to win at number which you would think are statistically too high. I don’t think testosterone is a complete measurement for deciding this sort of thing.
