Was God creating Satan a good idea?

Eden and creation seemed to be going along quite well for God and man until Satan was cast into Eden by God. God would have been in charge of who he allowed into the Garden of Eden. After all, God would have kept a firm control of who entered his new day care so as to insure the wellbeing of Adam and Eve.

Being all knowing, God already knew that Satan, with God’s own power of deception, would successfully tempt Eve to eat of the tree of all possible knowledge.

It almost seems as if God wanted us to and planned for us to fail. Perhaps that is why the Church called Adams sin a happy fault and necessary sin.

Christian dogma, the opposite of Jewish dogma, has Satan as God’s nemesis and arch rival for the souls of mankind. God’s foreknowledge would have told him that Satan would cause him to condemn the vast majority of his beloved souls to hell and death and thus play into Satan’s hands. This to me seems like God creating a huge amount of grief for himself and mankind, unless God truly wanted man to fail, --- and sin was a happy fault and necessary sin as the Church says.

Did Adam and Eve actually do what God really wanted them to do, and was God creating Satan a good idea?

We are told by the Church and scriptures to emulate God.

Should all parents do as God did and create a situation of failure for their children so as to insure that they too have the happy fault and necessary sin that makes them fail?

Why was it important for God to insure that we failed?

    Regards
    DL

In many sects of Jeudaism and some Christian sects, Satan is not viewed as evil, but simply as the Angel of Temptation. It's his job to test mankind, and in some faiths he is the keeper of the book of judgement.

There was no hell in early Christianity. The concept of Hell was created in order to frighten Vikings into converting. It is based on Hel, a Norse goddess who presides of the Realm of Hel where all non-warriors, and warriors who do not die in combat go in the afterlife. To a Viking, not going to Asgard, the Norse version of Heaven, where all Warriors killed in Combat went to dine with the Gods and fight for eternity, was the worst fate imaginable.

That is went Satan became an evil being. They had to come up with a being to take Hel's place in the myth. So they chose Satan, and made Hell into the place where all who do not accept Jesus as their savior go.

Satan got jealous when God gave Earth to Adam (man). So he rebelled and God cast to him to earth. Even then man walked with God in the garden. It was not until man inherited the knowledge of both good and evil, that God separated earth from Heaven. Knowing what man would do after gaining the knowledge, He had to.

What you are trying to do here, is blame everything satan did, on God. Nothing more than a childish act, when caught doing something wrong.

Satan is portrayed oddly in the Bible.

In Genesis, he is often considered to be "The Serpent". He gets punished along with Adam and Eve, due to "tempting Eve". (Apparently snakes stood upright and talked...before the Fall).

But was the Serpent really guilty or did it do what God wanted done? What WAS the point of God putting the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden and making it easily accessible??? If not to "test" Adam and Eve? And if so....then the Serpent (Satan)....was HELPING God.

Then in Job, Satan appears as "God's betting buddy". Wagering over how miserable God will let Satan make Job's life before the poor, abused man would crack. There seems to be little or no animosity between God and Satan. In fact, God seems to WANT Satan to make Job's life miserable just to stroke His own ego.

Later Satan again appears to "tempt Jesus" with "the kingdoms of the Earth." But all this is done to make Jesus LOOK GOOD. So again, Satan is basically "working for God."

Then finally at the end, Satan (conflated with "Lucifer") is treated like he's going to be "God's servant" during the End Times.............OR he's a moron.

Think about it...the Bible says Satan will do such-and-such (mark of the Beast, punishing the post-Rapture saved, invading Israel)....all of which will result in his EVENTUAL destruction.

But....what if he REFUSES to do "such-and-such"? All he has to do is NOT do ONE of the "prophecized" things the Anti-Christ supposedly will do in the End Times and.....

the Bible will be proven false.....and since the Bible is "God's word"....GOD will be proven false.

So the only logical conclusion? Again.........Satan is "working for God".

    - - - Updated - - -

Who created Satan? Does Satan have Free Will? If so....then he can REFUSE to do what God prophecizes he'll do during the End Times.

If he doesn't have Free Will...and God created him?....then he's "God's robot" and God is to blame for his actions.

Exactly....God didn't want to DIRECTLY f*** up Job's life....so he has Satan do it, so He can be "the good guy."

Even though obviously at the end of Job, God is doing his "I made the world...don't you question me, punk!" routine......and relishing the fact that Job has to "come crawling back to me"

Job is the first instance of "Good Cop/Bad Cop"....except the "Good Cop" was in on it same as the "Bad Cop".

Your acting like you know what God's kingdom is. And basing your argument off that. You have no idea. As a believer even I wonder, if there is no sin, sickness, sorrow, or pain in heaven. How is it that satan rebelled? Not being able to understand or contemplate this, I do not lose my faith. On the contrary it really makes me want to know. And the only way to do that is to know Jesus Christ.

satan was one of God's best and most beautiful angels. Maybe angels have a different law than man. All we can do is speculate, or take God's word as truth. I prefer to take it as truth, for many reasons. If you do not believe there is a creator how than would you reply to this?

    Try again.....

    In your view...Who created Satan?

Now....does Satan have Free Will? If so....then he can REFUSE to do what God prophecizes he'll do during the End Times.

If he doesn't have Free Will...and God created him?....then he's "God's robot" and God is to blame for his actions.

I will speculate with you if it makes you feel better.

If mankind is to destroy themselves, then certain situations must take place. Such as lies, deceptions, murder, power, etc. God knows what must take place, does that mean He knows what you will decide to do if asked to kill someone? Yes, for God knows you, He has seen your previous circumstances and the choices and actions you decide to take. He then bases your decision making on His answer. This is how he knows how to use certain people for His will. Thus the same thing with world leaders.

I think no matter what satan or man decided to do, God had already had a plan for any situation. So in my opinion, yes it's all free will. However free will does not stop what is going to happen. For satan is limited in what he can do, that is why God knows what must take place, and can warn us of it.

If you was to jump out of a plane, you know what is about to happen, for everything is limited. God understands the realm in which we live, and the limits therein, for He created it.

Your failure is not made by God. Your success or failure is made by you. Anything else is nothing more than an excuse.

Religious people don't like to think, they prefer to feel. And they feel real good when they tell themselves that they will magically survive their own death just by believing in a certain dead guy (Jesus/Mohammad, etc.) Besides, thinking is hard work.

The very idea of "angels" betrays the originals of the Christian god. If Yahweh is omnipotent/omniscient/omnipresent, then why does he need messengers? Angels are a holdover from the days when Yahweh more closely resembled the other ANE gods. He was a big dude on a throne who sent out his messengers because he hadn't aquired the omni attributes from the Greek philosophers until around the 2nd century BC

    No argument.

I find it strange that to get to heaven, Christians have to accept the totally immoral concept of substitutionary atonement.

They do not recognize that they are selling their souls to Satan to get into heaven.

It is hard to see how Christians can follow such an idiotic and immoral theology without recognizing the immorality of it.

    Sigh.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt

Stick to the issue instead of your personal garbage and we might be able to chat.

If you are correct, then enlighten us as to why God put Satan in Eden knowing that Eve could not help but be deceived?

And at the end of it all, Christians condemn Satan and love God even more.

The condemn the killer but love the mafia Don that paid for the hit.

What a twisted immorality Christianity produces.

If God created my nature, all I can do is follow it as one cannot go against his nature.

Christians are always trying to absolve God of moral culpability in the fall by whipping out their favorite "free will!", or “ it’s all man’s fault”.

That is "God gave us free will and it was our free willed choices that caused our fall. Hence God is not blameworthy."

But this simply avoids God's culpability as the author of Human Nature. Free will is only the ability to choose. It is not an explanation why anyone would want to choose "A" or "B" (bad or good action). An explanation for why Eve would even have the nature of "being vulnerable to being easily swayed by a serpent" and "desiring to eat a forbidden fruit" must lie in the nature God gave Eve in the first place. Hence God is culpable for deliberately making humans with a nature-inclined-to-fall, and "free will" means nothing as a response to this problem.

If all sin by nature then, the sin nature is dominant. If not, we would have at least some who would not sin. That being the case, for God to punish us for following the instincts and natures he put in us would be quite wrong.

    DL

He is not but his brethren is.

I follow the other Jesus shown in scriptures. Not the Roman created Roman ass kisser.

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

This Jesus is the archetypal good man that Christianity turned into an immoral God.

    God created angels for entertainment.

To see what kind you just need to look at how Satan is built. Especially the nice female boobs.

Those that don't like marinara sauce can't be trusted with the word of the flying spaghetti monster. They must be relegated to the under sauce. I know that I don't make sense, but you really need to re-evaluate your own responsibility to sanity. Really? Hell is your punishment for not believing? Look, a porn mag has more morality than your lame religion. Does a future in milk and honey exceed a blow job? Oh, wait... I must be satan. Now I know. I am evil. Every ejaculation by any animal on this planet is from god. Are you people buying this? Really?

    Mark 9:49

3 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.
